Looking forward to seeing these courses on Racing UK from May 1
December 13, 2011 at 11:49 #382460Good news. Exeter and Perth in particular deserve the RUK gravitas
Just wish the change was scheduled for a week or so earlier – three days with RUK at Perth in April…wow indeed
…come she will
December 13, 2011 at 12:11 #382467Why do you feel this will be betterthan ATR?

Better quality and faster pictures, better presenters, no adverts & no Matt Chapman
December 13, 2011 at 12:47 #382479Changing the subject slightly but on the subject of quality – has anybody seen the Racing Post Greyhound Channel?
It looks as though it is being recorded on a cheap mobile phone.

O’Ryan, Naughton and co. Are you sure about that?
When is it Ascots turn, I wonder.
December 13, 2011 at 15:48 #382501Oh dear, is Broonie looking for another job?
Seriously, a little disappointed, other than Neesom I don’t think RUK is full of NH lovers is it – think Willoughby, McNae, Persad.
December 13, 2011 at 20:00 #382536Exeter and Perth Drone – what’s wrong with Kelso? Great course and plenty good horses turn up there these days.
December 13, 2011 at 20:59 #382547Sad day for ATR.
Much prefer their coverage than Racing UK.
Racing UK have shown their fixtures for end of Dec and Jan 2012 amd have shown that they are doing Kelso already.December 13, 2011 at 21:43 #382552

Missed this guys. What’s wrong with Kelso again?
December 13, 2011 at 21:58 #382557Nothing wrong – they’ve just switched to RUK from ATR is all.

There’s nothing at all wrong with Kelso: a fine track with even finer stands blessed with wonderfully odoriferous fires , and that long run-in sorts the resolute from the leery
Just wanted to emphasise the go-ahead and thriving nature of Exeter and Perth, relative to Kelso

December 14, 2011 at 04:19 #382593Doesn’t directly affect me tbh. Three hedgehopping courses switching to RUK probably frees up a bit more of winter AW screen time in the coming years on ATR.
From the outside I find the RUK business model and decisions taken fascinating. Yes, the burning question is; when will subscribers be asked to foot the bill for three (really two) new members of this club? I know the pie is massive at RUK towers currently – check out RMG record media rights profits, increase in subscribers of 8,000 AFTER the monthly fee had risen by 64% in 2009.
Re Ascot. Ascot have a 5% shareholding in ATR. After Champions Day, it’s not a bold statement to say you could see Ascot being shown on both channels.
December 14, 2011 at 04:20 #382594sad to hear this, I enjoye ATRs coverage of these tracks. Can’t see myself ponying up fro RUK. How much is is now?
December 14, 2011 at 06:36 #382598Love watching the racing from Perth, sad day.

Yes, I like the action from Perth on At The Races. It’s a shame it’s going to Racing UK because I don’t have that.
Won’t be as many opportunities for Gordon Brown ("thanks, Gordie") but I keep seeing him on the William Hill betting shop service. Today he had a grinning and blonde-haired Kelly Harrison with him.
"Gordie" looked to have borrowed an ill-fitting suit for the occasion. It seemed to number John McCririck and Gary Wiltshire among its previous owners.
Wonder if Racing UK could be persuaded to do a swap. Perhaps they would consider taking Matt Chapman and exchanging him for Richard Hoiles or Stewart Machin in the new spirit of co-operation. After all, Racing UK have taken Perth, Kelso and Exeter. Surely they should make some gesture by way of compensation. - AuthorPosts
