Only if they told no one else.
May 24, 2011 at 10:59 #356970Andy: Very good
May 24, 2011 at 11:03 #356973Bit of a false trend. Yeats would’ve won and Dylan Thomas should’ve. Have any other horses run who are good enough to win a Group 1 over 12f on quick ground? Not that I can see (please please please please please don’t all jump at me and say Fame and Glory).
He’s still got double the amount of Epsom Derbies than most of the names of the Roll of Honour and without doubt will be adding more over the coming years.
May 24, 2011 at 11:10 #356976Zarks: You can say what you like, the results do NOT change so it is NOT a false trend, Yeats and Dylan did NOT win so end of

I do however agree he will win another Derby in time
May 24, 2011 at 12:20 #356982It is a ridiculous trend. It has no weight to it whatsoever. Your ‘trend’ has no justification or reason behind it, it’s simply a co-incidence that after High Chaparral winning it in 2002 he hasn’t had a horse run in the race who has been good enough to win, with the possible exception of a bad ride.
Were The Great Gatsby, Balestrini, Alberto Giacometti or Brian Boru better than Kris Kin over 12f?
Were Grand Central, Gypsy King, Oratorio or Almighty better than Motivator over 12f?
Were Soldier of Fortune, Acapulco, Yellowstone, Admiralofthefleet, Mahler, Anton Chekhov or Archipenko better than Authorized over 12f?
Were Washington Irving, Alessandro Volta, Frozen Fire, King of Rome, Alan Devonshire or Bashkirov better than New Approach over 12f?
Were Fame and Glory, Masterofthehorse, Rip Van Winkle, Golden Sword, Age of Aquarius or Black Bear Island better than Sea The Stars over 12f?
Are At First Sight, Jan Vermeer or Midas Touch better than Workforce over 12f?
May 24, 2011 at 13:02 #356990The results at Epsom do not lie Zarks
May 24, 2011 at 19:10 #357049Aidan’s record at Epsom has been worryingly bad in the last 9 years. For a purported trends man Zarkava you seem to ignore the trends you do not like…just like a advertising executive!

For a trend to be meaningful, it has to have solid logic underpinning it.
Zarkava has given sound reasons why he thinks the trend misleading; all he’s got in return is "look at the results". No reasons, no logic, no sensible argument to the contrary, just pure blind faith in what a bare reading of the stats indicates.
Good luck guys, you’re going to need it with that approach.May 24, 2011 at 21:11 #357068There is no real trend here. Since winnng successive Derbys in 2001 and 2002 with Galileo and High Chaparral AOB has had no ammunition (aside from Fame and Glory, Masterofthehorse and Rip Van Winkle who had the misfortune to come up against the Wonderful Sea The Stars).
May 24, 2011 at 21:53 #357073None of the last 16 Derby winners nor any of the 32 placed horses had the number 8 in their odds. Wait until after the off and lay accordingly in-running.

Maybe because he sends about 5 or 6 runners every year, that adds up to the Michael Stoutes etc who only send one.
May 24, 2011 at 22:54 #357084Just 1 of the last 16 Derby winners had the letter ‘B’ in their name.
None of the last 16 had more than 14 characters in their name.
All 16 winners had a vowel in their name.
I’m stopping now. Embarrassing.

Yeah but to be fair how many Polish horses are usually sent to Epsom?
May 25, 2011 at 07:29 #357098Zarks: Don’t be embarassed, you write well normally

Good Luck with following Mr O’Brien, 31 and 0 he must be due a winner on the Saturday mate.

I use trends more as a guide on the flat but follow them more religiously at Cheltenham/Aintree/Punchestowns mate.
May 25, 2011 at 09:32 #357120In Fairness Aidan bunch usually run well….he had the first 4 behind Sea The Stars. Nothing was going to beat Workforce last year. While he runs a large number very few completely bomb out. He just ran into 2 exceptional performances the past 2 years

It’s not a trend.
