I suspect you will there are pressures on plenty of other professions, be it pressure to produce positive results or pressure to do as they are told even if they don’t think it’s right. It’s not something peculiar to jockeys.

most jockeys are working class lads who aint use to the pressure of being treated like stars and fall into ways that maybe they shouldnt.

What is peculiar to jockeys is they are in the racing spotlight.
The instructions from owners/trainers (or possibly others), might cause conflict. So they please one group whilst enrage other/s.
The comments over the years, on this forum and others, can be extremely and sometimes unjustifiably harsh. After all, most of the time, jockeys are just following instructions because they want to keep riding.
What really annoys me is I’m sure the BHA are well aware of what goes on, yet they do not seem to protect the most vulnerable whom I think are the jockeys and the addicted gamblers.December 31, 2009 at 19:36 #266755

yes the bha know that jockeys are beeing used as scape goats.
wich makes you wonder why they dont make the trainer more responsable?
in recent cases they have tried to make a direct link to these mr X that trades on betfair also mr X suplys call girls and drugs so say.
alass the penalties must rise and lifetime bans are the only answer..
ive sent names to bha long before they investagate!.
i study form and if a certain jockey is on a horse you just cant bet..
also ther needs to be less racing
of all the warning off cases ive read 75% are on the all weather..
its dangerous to have prize money at 2k a race and betfair trading 700k on the same race HELLO??
if you want to make money you either win a million a/w races or lay on betfair???..how else is there???? - AuthorPosts
