Almighty upset if he doesn’t win this pretty easily and I can only see him getting beat if he does an AR on a bad day or a repeat of Newmarket.

Think all the all aged races from 8-12F are there for the 3yr olds taking this season as it isn’t a particularly strong older bunch of horses coming to the party.

“You could be excused for thinking tomorrow is a bank holiday given the number of meetings on offer. Needless to say it’s nearly all bookmaker fodder. When isn’t it”?
    ————————–

You’ve got the Group 1 Eclipse, Group 2 Lancashire Oaks, Group 3 Charge and Listed Distaff.

Seems pretty good to me considering Royal Ascot wasn’t that long ago and the Newmarket July meeting isn’t far away…

That’s just four races out of how many, and just because a race has a classification doesn’t mean they are up to a general standard. The Eclipse itself centres around one horse.

How many races do you want to have a bet in?

That’s more a question for those who will be betting on plenty of the fodder and losing. Tomorrow, I have just had two bets, this one without the favourite which is pretty speculative, and the race at Deauville which I am quite hopeful about. It could easily have been none. As I said elsewhere I clawed the Royal Ascot money back betting on tennis/racing and have perhaps been a little too cautious since, missing a couple of nice price winners. It will be a struggle for me to even find 3-4 for the competitions on here.

Thanks Ginger, I will probably need it. I did notice that you have also turned it around since Royal Ascot. Food for thought.

It seems strange betting against City of Troy, but I’ve had a bet on Al Riffa at 16-1. I’m hoping to get bigger than that on course ew

    No surprise..
    I have backed…
See The Fire 25/1 – EW – 2 places 🔥♥️ hoping she’ll love the extra distance and make the running staying on at the finish and probably just getting collared by COT.
    have also done a small
Rev. Forecast with City Of Troy

Can’t see COT getting beat but this could be tactical, looking forward to it.
    :good: Jac

Just read through the Thread and noticed stilvi also in the hopeful camp..good luck stilvi :good:
I’ve been backing her every race and would hate to miss the day she came good and this extra distance could be the key. She’s still there for a reason.

Dancing Gemini wasn’t really suited to the undulations of Epsom and the distance of the Derby. The drop in trip and going should play to his strengths today. I expect him to throw down the gauntlet and give City of Troy major scare this time around

I’m not convinced that City of Troy is the superstar that nearly everyone is banging on about.

City Of Troy was impressive in the Derby and goes well on good-soft. But will he be as effective on Soft? His action suggests a firmer surface would be ideal. Yes he has way the best chance, but does he have a better than 77% chance? I think not.

Thought I’d be siding with Dancing Gemini on this ground but Roger Teal is in nothing like the form he was earlier in the season.

Can see Al Riffa running well. He wasn’t far away in the Ganay on similar ground to this, with several horses around him who’ve done well since. Zarir and Horizon Dore chased home Augustus. But that French race was slowly run and a chance Al Riffa is flattered – looks a standout performance in his form.

Ghostwriter’s Guineas run was full of promise in 4th. Second and third both franked the form since… Running as though 10f will suit. Ran just ok in France. Possible the softer ground was against him, but with Clive Cox in excellent form might be best to take a chance on the ground at the price.

Sea The Fire’s dam beat the odds on Goldon Horn in the International @ 180. Oh yyyyesss! I remember it well. :yahoo: See The Fire probably has to improve more than any of the runners here. But she’s also imo the most likely to make at least some improvement. Running on well at the finish in the Coronation, beaten in a photo for 4th, behind Porta Fortuna, Opera Singer, Ramatuelle and Elmalka. 10f could be the making of her – By Sea The Stars after all. She likes at least some give underfoot.

tbh If I hadn’t got City Of Troy ante-post I’d be opposing him here with the two Jeff Smith horses.
I have laid COT back this morning for a free bet.

Ignore the fact that the Dewhurst was run on officially soft ground (time was slow by 1.65s) but COT was withdrawn last minute from the National Stakes last year due to ‘unsuitalbe ground’- it was good to yielding so make of that what you will

Al Riffa and Dancing Gemini have both won on soft so they aren’t going to be inconvenienced by conditions and whilst Ghostwriter’s French Derby run was on heavy ground connections did say they were hoping the rain stayed away.

Don’t think it will be tactical as Hans Andersen is clearly the sacrificial pacemaker for COT and even if he wasn’t and running on his own merit (yeah right), we know COT has no issue front running as the Derby was the first time in his career that he was held up, so Ryan could just as easily go from the front and suit himself.

Classic doesn’t run well on soft so that will be my pointer to the going… :rose:

Has to be one of the worst renewals I’ve ever seen.

Also, White Birch connections must be absolutely kicking themselves. What were they thinking pulling out on Wednesday when wet conditions were forecast for Fri/Sat?

I’ve gone for Ghostwriter w/o fav.

Free bet on See The Fire. I doubt she will defeat City Of Troy but I am not risking anything.
