I think they are rather good
Like the one of the AOB team

July 8, 2007 at 21:51 #106761Good stuff Clivex.
While looking at the AOB team photo I could hear the stirrings of the Godfather theme. Perhaps I’ve been reading too many threads on here!

Very colourful and bright! I like the 11th one – the spectators look like they are in a velodrome!
July 9, 2007 at 07:08 #106784nice pictures, nice camera – why don’t more people put pics up here of days they spent at the races ? (i know, probably drinking or gambling like me or working, but it’s a thought … )
July 9, 2007 at 08:13 #106787Nice pictures Clive.

I always thought Pat Keating had the look of a Luca Brasi.
July 9, 2007 at 09:45 #106805Thanks all.
Exceptional camera. A Pentax SLR digital if anyone is interested.
Will follow up with some more over coming months. Goodwood next probably (but dont want this getting in the way of the punting and socilaising too much…)
July 9, 2007 at 09:55 #106810It might be a good camera but you still have to know what your subject is
and you do!July 9, 2007 at 10:03 #106813Very kind words
A handful more to upload, including a couple of George who looked wonderful (just for Aidan
).Been said so many times before, but he really is the most charismaic of horse and its great to see him racing again
The paddock pic is my fav too. I havent seen Sandown buzz like that for a long time, and its a special course on days like that. It was also noticeable that the atmosphere was lively but not at all yobbish
July 9, 2007 at 10:04 #106814We were out on the track this afternoon taking piccies for an article on the new tracks – this is the poly test track … the tapeta is going alongside it next week and they are both 1000m – only hope no one bolts on it because this is the finish and there ain’t no where to go!

and these are some of the workers!

Maybe I should open an account like you have ! I have loads of photos

Couldn’t agree more with the above. Watching George in the pre-saddling enclosure (reckon we were just about standing next to each other based on photo of AOB saddling him) was amazing – hushed voices and whispers all only interested in discussing GW. The moment when he left for the paddock was incredible – a rush to the paddock by all to see him walk down, and how he cocked his head sideways inspecting everyone instead of the other way around.
It was my first time seeing him and i can’t ever imagine a better looking horse. Very slender yet athletic, and the most amazing face & head.
Great atmosphere at Sandown in general. Very relaxed yet quite a large crowd.
Clive – did you buy this camera with races in mind? and also (or for anyone else at Sandown) did you know who won the eclipse? I was fixed on Authorized/George …

Nice pictures.
July 9, 2007 at 11:05 #106831Well Salse. Agree with everything there and yes, i was confused about the eclipse finish too. The split field is simply not something you see at sandown very often
Yes. Pre parade was an electric (and it helps that the ring is nicely laid out and accesible at Sandown). Its the second time ive seen him (ascot last year too) and if ever a horse could be said to look intelligent (Dessie did too) then he is the one.
Were you the ugly posh old bloke with the droning voice?
The camera was brought not just for racing (cricket is a good subject too) but look slike it does the job well enough. Will use the telephoto next time too
July 9, 2007 at 11:27 #106845Were you the ugly posh old bloke with the droning voice?
Ha. Nope, i would have been the dashing 27 year old

It’s strange that a horse who has now lost 5 of his last 6 races has such an aura about him, but he most certainly does. Without exaggeration, it was worth the ticket price just to see GW.

July 9, 2007 at 16:28 #106897some amazing photos there, the clarity is perfect…jealous….i’m the type to take 1000 photos and there be one that makes the grade
it’s not just a good camera that takes great photos, i just appear to be artistically challenged
I always think that old george appears to eyeball horses he runs against as well….thought it in a couple of races and again in the eclipse. He always seems to run with his head cantered over to look at the horse closest to him…i’d love to know what the looks are saying in horse language!
July 9, 2007 at 16:42 #106901blimey
I will be looking at a career change now

Thanks
July 9, 2007 at 16:51 #106905Lovely sharp shots Clivex.
Which model Pentax is it you are using?
Regards – Matron
