June 14, 2009 at 18:08 #233859Sunday 14th June
Another losing day, Brisbane was stuffed. I am doing something badly wrong here as I am losing way to much. I expect to at least get more placed horses than I currently am.
Loss c/f = £33.26

June 18, 2009 at 00:16 #234800On the back of a bad run and with limited funds I am drawing stumps on the daily doubles. It has been fun, even torturous but I will be back! I may start another daily thread next week after the jamboree of Ascot is over. Thanks for reading, Doug.
P.S Final Loss = £43.26
July 28, 2009 at 17:00 #241343Rather than start a brand new thread I will just post up my Goodwood fancies on an existing thread! Really like this meeting (and this day in particular following a 4 horse winning lucky 15 last year).
So Here are some selections:-
2.10
Sweet Lightning
William Blake2.45
Firebet
Tactic3.25
Finjaan4.00
Mister Manannan4.35
Rajeh
Yes Mr President5.10
Ellemujie
Wellington Square5.45
Sheer ForceI have permed these up in a few Lucky 15’s (just 10p e/w mind) and see how we go.
My NAP Lucky 15 (If that makes sense) is:
Sweet Lightning 2.10
Mister Mannannan 4.00
Yes Mr President 4.35
Wellington Square 5.10July 29, 2009 at 00:51 #241407Not the best day today, would have been worse but for having Finjaan at 12-1.
But there are four more days so I am not gonna buckle!
Onto Wednesday and initial thoughts on teh Sussex are that Paco Boy is the most solid option in terms of track form, not minding cut if rains come and being a proven Group 1 performer. Not agreat betting heat though.
Two others on the card to catch the eye are Last Flight in the opener and Highland Glen in the 4.00. Last Flight is running of a mark obtained a long time ago on the flight and has improved plenty over hurdles this spring/summer. His staying on 3rd in a decent Market Rasen handicap a couple of weeks ago was a decent effort on top of previous good runs and at 12-1 represents good each way value. He is sure to be staying on when others have cried enough and his low weight certainly helps. It would be wrong to see him as the Bowen stable second string in my opinion. Dangers are aplenty but Swingkeel and Relative Strength are others to appeal.
Hihland Glen ran well at Ascot coming widest of all and finishing 6th just afew lengths behind a few of these. Strictly on ratings he doesn’t have much room for manouvre but I feel he has more improvement in him than some of these. And Stoute is not exactly bad with these improving 3yo’s. I will take SP given that its such an open race (and I only have a laddies account who are offering 7-1). Another in the race whom I fancy is Classic Vintage for a returning to Form Perrett stable. Ran well behind Manyriverstocross and Cool Strike at Newmarket last time and looks to be overpriced at 14-1.
Might say more tomorrow if I get chance before the off.
July 29, 2009 at 17:03 #241548Nice days action ahead and my selections (lucky 15) would be:-
Last Flight
Paco Boy
Highland Glen
Attabaas AllureOthers carrying an interest are:
Relative Strength
Lucky General
Classic Vintage
Topolski
AxiomJuly 30, 2009 at 17:08 #241800Good day yesterday via Classic Vintage and Axiom. Well ahead for the week now so lets hope I dont blow it in these coming days.
Not strong fancies today but a few are overpriced in my opinion.
I have taken an interest in the following:-
Fastnet Storm 16-1
Set The Trend 10-1
Dandy Man 16-1
Kyllachy Star SP
Calatrava Cape SP
Vhujon SP
Alfresco SPAny one winner or any three placed would constutute a good day.
July 31, 2009 at 17:03 #241949Not a great day yesterday but stakes were small.
Onto today and I do fancy a couple strongly.
2.10) Warringah and Unleashed token selections.
2.45) Everymanforhimself and Harrison George are selections. Harrison George has banged on the door for a while in these type races, hopefully it opens today!
3.25) Nice contest and fancy Vitznau to come back to some form. Comes here on back of an abysmal run at Newbury but seems to have a liking for downhill courses like epsom so hopefully like goodwood from a good draw. Also handles some cut in the ground so 14-1 is fair price each way. Others to catch the eye are Extraterrestrial and Docofthebay, both of whom have proven form in big field handicaps.
4.00) Fancy Buzzword each way. Was impressed with way he travelled at Windsor more than anything and not sure this is the strongest Group 2. Dick TRurpin is the obvious danger but is worth taking on as is Rakaan…maiden after 3 starts tends not to appeal in a group race.
4.35) Contract Caterer has an interesting jockey booking in Jimmy Fortune. Also well drawn and must have solid each way credentials. Others to appeal are Tres Coronas and Suffolk Punch.
5.10) Summer Fete and Penny’s Gift are two against the field.
5.45) Not sure why La Zamora is so much longer in price given the weights and past clashes. However, I wouldn’t be confident of anything in this tricky looking race. Mattamia appeals from the point of view of being able to jump, grab the rail and not look back!
In summary, another tough card but an each way lucky 15 of Harrison George, Vitznau, Buzzword, Contract Caterer.
