Paddy Twomey WILL gain his first Royal Ascot win of his career, so will have to back a few of them at least. One Look is one of them at 11/2. Has stamina for further so straight mile should suit. Ran well behind Porta Fortuna last time but had a fitness advantage, still, that one is a classy filly.

Cinderella’s Dream is the bet of the meeting for me.
Has bags of pace and showed improved form at Newmarket. Different course should be no problem having shown her form all over the World. Although interesting it will be the first time she’s raced right-handed. Loves firm ground, whereas there are doubts about her two main rivals on that front.

One Look’s trainer Patrick Twomey is going great guns this season. Has not won at Ascot before, but is now amongst the best in Ireland. His One Look got within a length of Porta Fortuna last time out, but even with that multiple Group 1 winner carrying a penalty didn’t need to be anywhere near her best to win. When looking at those in behind One Look that day – she still needs to make significant improvement to beat a top form Cinderella’s Dream. One Look probably hasn’t raced on ground this fast, and even if effective on it may not have sufficient speed unless it’s a strongly run race.

Fallen Angel’s very best form (Moyglare and Irish 1000) was on quite a bit softer. But if the market drift is purely on the ground – although she did improve afterwards – her Sweet Solera victory was imo on similar ground to today’s. Probably isn’t going to be as firm as in the Lockinge… And she probably needed her first outing anyway. Her best form is up the favourite’s (although Karl Burke isn’t in as good form as Appleby imo). But if she is just as effective on the ground… And if CD is going to get beat it might be due to getting too far behind in a slowly run race. Favourite will be held up or even dropped out whereas Fallen Angel is usually a front / prominent runner. I’ve had a saver just in case.

Also had a saver on the enigmatic / temperamental Running Lion. The other possible pace horse. Yet to really fire this season and is inconsistent. But her only victory last year came at Ascot in this race… And the stable is in cracking form. Drawn in stall 4, if Murphy can get out and either race wide or lead…

Ay yes I forgot they changed it last year, too many memories of the race run over the straight, one standout being Botti’s Aljazzi.

Doesn’t put me off much, has plenty of form right handed.
