Got 10s for Red Desire with Hills
I think Hills got you with a carrot called 10/1
March 24, 2010 at 21:12 #285416Bad draw for Twice Over – feel you need to be in the middle here, Well Armed came from stall 7 to win last year, Red Desire in 3 and Vision D’etat stall 6 appeal to me now. Allybar my outsider at 16/1.

Im backing Twice Over to defy the draw.
Also Mastery as my outsider.Trip a bit short though.
March 25, 2010 at 22:25 #285612Do we know how good Richard’s Kid is? I doubt it.
Incidentally, are there more US runners this year than previously, does anyone know?
March 25, 2010 at 22:52 #285618Sorry, should add that Gitano Hernando is taken out because only Singspiel has won as an English-trained horse and Richard’s Kid is removed because all winners who prepped in America won or finished 2nd in the Donn Handicap.
Got 10s for Red Desire with Hills.
Eh, this makes no sense (might be just be though..)
Well Armed won the DWC but prepped in the San Antonio Handicap at Santa Anita. Richards Kid prepped in and won this very race.
Not sure how trends can stand up in this race this year Z? This is a whole new surface
Good eye, HTH.
New track, new surface, new ballgame. Any trends are null and void IMO and determining the winner based on past history is a risk much greater than normal.

The $10 million purse makes it much more attractive.
Any opinions on the other races of the day? I think Presious Passion has a fantastic shot in the Sheema, it’a a relatively week field and his running style is so different than the Euros that if he gets loose on the lead, he’s home free.
The blog Dubai Race Night http://dubairacenight.com/ has daily updates on works of the various contenders.
From Wednesday’s post:The award for best looker today was the gritty GLORIA DE CAMPEAO, who galloped a strong two laps of Meydan with stablemates OROVESO and UNCLE TOM not far behind, both UAE Derby (G2). This will be his third try in the race, and arguably, is in the best form of his life. He could definitely get brave on the front end of a race that lacks major pace. This morning, he just loped along enjoying his surroundings and soaking up the sun that has fit him so well here in Dubai. Never respected in the wagering, the Brazilian-bred could land the upset and just keep going.
With Kieren Fallon aboard, GITANO HERNANDO observes the media hanging by the 1,600 meters chute. He worked up a good lather this morning taking a spin around Meydan and the onlooking Barry Irwin of Team Valor seemed content. Considering the cold winter in the UK, some questions might be raised as to his handling of the heat.
A son of Lemon Drop Kid, RICHARD’S KID fails to make a strong visual impression, mostly based on his size. Still, the Bob Baffert-trainee didn’t have a hair astray this morning. The 2010 Dubai World Cup supplants the Breeders’ Cup Classic as the toughest competition he will face in his career. Can he rise to the occasion?
Front-running PRESIOUS PASSION galloped more than two miles today and, from reports I’ve received, just loves spending time on the track soaking in the action. He seems well-acclimated to the weather considering his South Florida wintering.
GIO PONTI is the top American prospect for the Dubai World Cup and turned in a strong gallop that was most likely recorded. I encountered one eyewitness report that said he had the poorest appearance of all the Americans following the ship to Dubai, but has improved each morning.
From today’s post:
PRESIOUS PASSION was a handful this morning, emerging from the 1,600 meters chute full of vigor and forcing the outriders to scatter a host of connections who were standing observing their runners. Most horses amble out of the chute and begin walking the wrong way. There was no stopping the Mary Hartmann-trainee. It should be noted that Hartmann would be the first female trainer of a thoroughbred winner on World Cup night if her gelding were to win.
American turf sprinter CALIFORNIA FLAG has pleased Brian Koriner and jockey Joe Talamo all week. The winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G2) wasn’t 100 percent when he ran in the Hong Kong Sprint (G1) was just three lengths behind the winner, Sacred Kingdom. Koriner told me last evening that his charge doesn’t have to be right on the lead, but finds his horse’s natural early speed a great advantage over a straight trip that would seem difficult to close.
March 26, 2010 at 14:49 #285725With all the excitement of Cheltenham I’d forgotten about Presious; great horse.
March 26, 2010 at 16:51 #285743Thanks for all the info, Miss Woodford.
I had bet on Presious Passion, Richard’s Kid and California Flag, partly on the hunch that the US could have sent some of its best horses this year (I’m not that familiar with the various artificial surfaces at the moment; hope my knowledge on the subject become more sophisticated soon), and Curlin aside, US horses IN Dubai haven’t caught the punters’ attention much up to now, so value could perhaps be obtained, pricewise.

March 26, 2010 at 21:48 #14545Apart from the big race itself which has it own thread how do you see the other races going.
Rocket Man.I got 7/2 earlier this week
Presvis
MusirAll will win i feel what about you guys.
March 26, 2010 at 22:31 #285812Sticking my neck out, but, as well as horses with widely acknowledged credentials, it strikes me (rightly or wrongly) that there are a number of horses it might pay to place small ‘savers’ on. Such horses, for example, as Lahaleeb, Snaafy, Enak, Della Barba, Presious Passion, Courageous Cat, Richard’s Kid, One World, Jet Express, and at a smaller price, Crowded House in the big one.
March 26, 2010 at 23:29 #285823Forget the first
Then for fun:-
Finjaan 12-1
Kalahari Gold 16-1
Mendip 11-4
Mutheeb 14-1
Bankable 14-1
Beuna Vista 7-1
Vision D’etat 6-1March 27, 2010 at 00:01 #285831Can’t ignore The Usual QT who’s only poor run came on the all weather last time out.
Before then he was unstoppable on grass!
25/1 in the Duty Free
Aside from that, Rocket Man in the Shaheen, California Flag will wire then in the Al Quonz (wasn’t fit in Hong Kong and STILL nearly hung on for the win!) and Musir is a banker in the UAE Derby.
March 27, 2010 at 00:25 #285835Presious Passion in the Sheema, he’s in the best shape of his life at age 8. He runs his heart out every single time.
I also like Kinsale King in the Golden Shaheen, he’s beaten some very nice horses and has "Go-Go" Gomez aboard.

Duty Free
Though I love Presvis to bits, he hasn’t performed for K Fallon and there’s no guarantee that he will for C Lemaire.
Ryan Moore’s alternative mount,Confront (e.w. 12/1)
looks a much more solid option. Improved all last season, and ran an absolute blinder in the Hong Kong Mile despite his draw, still finishing ahead of Alexandros, who is available at only around half his price. Looks bound to improve again this season (The number of 5yo geldings retained by his stable over the years could be counted on one hand) and the bet of the meeting, imo.
Godolphin Mile
Desert Party, 5/2
looks home and hosed, considering his trashing of the decent Mutheeb over a distance well short of his best, in what was surely only a warm-up for this.
Dubai World Cup
Can’t split
Vision D’etat and Gio Ponti
in this, though there’s enough mileage in the prices (around 0/30 the pair) to cover both.
Terrific meeting for such a quiet time of the year.March 27, 2010 at 08:59 #285858Good News
It’s on C4 tonight some live some recorded I guess.
March 27, 2010 at 10:09 #285880After having a good look at the card, the two I like best are Jukebox Jury in the Sheema and Crowded House in the World Cup, both hopefully improving and each way chances for yards that have won on the night in the past (admittedly with better chances).
