My guess would be Pearl Bloodstock or a Japanese interest. Godolphin don’t usually do "part" interests.
Value Is EverythingOctober 2, 2011 at 15:05 #372748Sad in a way to see Goldikova beaten, and I don’t think that she is quite as good as she was.
That said I think its congratulations to Mr Simcock on a great training performance, and a very game performance from the horse.October 2, 2011 at 16:11 #372752You wouldn’t fancy Goldikova strongly to beat Excelebration or Immortal Verse if either turned up for the BC Mile. Overall her form this season isnt quite up to her previous 3 seasons. However it does mean that she could well be a tempting price come BC day.

Given the extra furlong and the likely stronger pace of the Breeder’s Cup, Goldikova will still take all the beating, imo.
October 2, 2011 at 23:35 #372795Lets hope so reet, it would be a fitting post script to a great career
October 3, 2011 at 21:48 #372891Thought the finish was a nice example of what a fit game horse can do WITHOUT the whip. I know Dream Ahead has tendency to hang, so maybe that was the cause for pretty limited whip use from Buick in battling to the line against the mare, but Dream Ahead earns additional credit for TRYING to win himself.
Well done Dream Ahead, and to WB. I doubt the extra smacks Goldikova got made a any difference to how hard she tried or fast she ran. You don’t have her amazing record if you don’t know how to win and put the effort in, regardless of whip.
I don’t have very strong objections to the whip (under the prior October 2011 rules – already much better than they were a number of years ago) but this example caught my eye with the recent whip changes so topical!
October 3, 2011 at 22:28 #372896It’s a shame he’s being retired to stud prematurely.
It would have been interesting to see how he would have fared as a mature horse.
Having said that, there are very few stallions indeed tracing back to the Godolphin Barb/Arabian in the male line these days, so from a sentimantal standpoint, it would be nice to see him do well at stud, although it’s always odds against.
