He pulled up his mount, got tired of waiting for someone to drive him back so took the ambulance.
A) he had a horse for heaven’s sake, couldn’t he ride that back?
B) What the hell did he do with the horse?Absolute idiot. He should be made to spend his 14 day ban shadowing ambulance crews at the racecourses. Then he might begin to understand how vital their work is. Or maybe make a visit over to see Brian Toomey.
July 6, 2013 at 17:25 #444969I am confused by why he didn’t ride the horse back?
I agree he is an idiot as well.. for spending his 14 day ban shadowing ambulance crews.
July 6, 2013 at 17:34 #444970I think a 14 day ban is ridiculous when you consider that the ‘Leopardstown Five’ only got 4 days each

It was a stupid thing to do but as I understand it the horse was being handled by someone and the ambulance crew took their sweet time getting to him, he must have been pretty irate although I’m not making excuses for him.
I can see the funny side
July 6, 2013 at 19:57 #444985This is the level of decision-making and common sense Our Conor fans can look forward to next season.

Why would they rush to get to him? He wasn’t injured in any way so they’d be doing him a favour giving him a lift back.
July 9, 2013 at 17:13 #445231Looks like he’s going to appeal:

First I’ve heard of the fate of his poor mount in all this.
July 10, 2013 at 12:34 #445304I cannot believe he’s appealed.
Arrogant little sod.

Hopefully they will double his ban for wasting their time.
July 10, 2013 at 13:00 #445307I think the ban covers Galway? In which case he was always going to appeal it, given Connell will surely have a few fancied runners.
July 10, 2013 at 14:22 #445312The horse broke his leg that’s why he didn’t ride it back..why on earth would he even dreamof doing that.. he should be prosecuted by the guards if the was a race goer he would of been nicked by the police with out a doubt EJIT
July 10, 2013 at 22:48 #445355If there is legal representation at his appeal, it will be the first time the defence will be classed as ‘ambulance chasers’.
July 11, 2013 at 08:28 #445367"Why would he ride back on a horse with a broken leg?"
A very sensible question, and in light of Barry Connell’s complaint about the way in which his horse’s injury was dealt with, a rather ironic one too. Connell himself rode a horse called Ttipolovitch in a Listowel bumper a few years ago in which the horse broke down very badly on the home turn.
Despite the injury being a severe one, Connell did, in fact, remain in the saddle after easing down so that the stricken horse could carry him home, before being mercifully dispatched by the vet (the poor horse, I should add, not Mr Connell, who wasn’t even pulled up by the stewards for such an appalling display).

Thanks for refreshing my memory Rory – I knew his name sounded familiar, the horse was Tripolovitch, 17th September 2009, the Thursday of the Listowel Festival.
I was at Listowel that day and I remember shouting at him to "get off the effing horse" I even made a complaint to the Stewards on the day I was so incensed and angry, even more so when they did nothing about it.
In fact I’m pretty certain I posted about it on here at the time or shortly after.
July 12, 2013 at 12:07 #445468Indeed you did Paul, first post on page 3 of this thread:

That’s disgraceful, shocking that he did that and shocking that the stewards didn’t take action.
