I made my first NH visit to Doncaster Racecourse during the Christmas holidays. I have been there flat racing many times in the past but having witnessed jumping there I can not wait to visit again. A super jumps track with eleven fair fences and usually an exciting finish. The facilities were excellent and the new stand is fantastic (even though I liked the old one). There was a very good crowd there, I hope Doncaster will add more NH fixtures to their portfolio in the future as it is in my eyes greatly under used. I suggest cut in their flat fixtures converting them to jumping!
January 11, 2012 at 21:14 #386481It is a fantastic course,a proper Grade 1 track with a history second to none, viewing is superb particularly from the new stand, the quality of racing is incredible for a dual course and again in the top 3 in the country. What lets the course down massively is the catering and staff, somebody somewhere has seriously cut back in this department which has inevitably had a knock on effect to not only the quality of food but the service of it!
Back in the day, before the security guards thought that the American President was visiting, Doncaster was famous for its Chicken Curry and Rice and i used to have it relgiously before a ‘Lincoln’ or a ‘November Handicap’ but its gone from the menu completely….am a still gutted!
