I don’t have a great deal of sympathy for reporters (or at least some) but I
can Imagine when one heads into work and gets called to the editors room.
Reporter: Okay Boss, what am I on today, more sleeze in Westminster,Johnson
hosting the Japanese PM and I’ve got a good tout that’s got a photo of Angela
Raynor buying fishnets in Marks. (I didn’t even mention the Daily Mail
)
I’ve got my biro at the ready boss.Boss: I’ve got a special job for you this morning Jim.
Reporter: Has another MP been caught watching porn on his phone in the house ?
Boss: It’s bigger that that, I want you to cover the dogs at polling stations.
Reporter: Aw Boss, I’ve been here 27 years, can’t we just send the tea boy ?
Boss: It’s an important story Jim, it’s what the public want to see.
Reporter: But Boss
Boss: Get the f@ck outa my office or you’ll get the parrot that can repeat
all Boris’s speeches for the last year.
Reporter: On my way BossMe: Why do they do this every F@cking year,I know what a dog looks like sitting on
it’s arse or tied to a railing. Why on earth is this a yearly event

May 5, 2022 at 19:51 #1597007When the late, great Keith Waterhouse was first hired as a junior reporter by the “Daily Mirror”, one of his first assignments was to find a talking dog.
From his obituary in “The Guardian”:
“Waterhouse called the office a few days later, announcing airily that he had fulfilled his brief. ‘Where’s the dog?’ snarled the features editor. ‘Cardiff,’ answered Waterhouse. ‘That’s no bloody good,’ came the reply. ‘The circulation drive is in the north-west. Find me a talking dog in Liverpool!'”
May 5, 2022 at 19:51 #1597008I’m sure the last time I voted about 7 years ago I had to take in ID.
This morning they just asked for my name and address then carry on
I may go back a few times when they change personal as I know quite a lot of names and addresses..

In other news, people without sufficient ID are less likely to vote Conservative.
As for dogs at Polling Stations, didn’t that start because of heavy reporting restrictions placed on the BBC and other broadcasters on polling days? Not sure if the same restrictions apply to papers etc.
May 5, 2022 at 21:25 #1597015If your initials are ID you are exempt from having to carry ID.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 6, 2022 at 04:01 #1597018There was an excellent article on voter ID in yesterday’s Guardian:
We’re all going to need ID to vote in future.
May 6, 2022 at 07:55 #1597019Thanks Gladiateur.
This will also cost councils money providing the ID to people who don’t have it at a time when they can least afford to be spending any more money.
Perhaps we should protest about it. Oh wait, we can’t because they are trying to criminalise that too.
