It’s hard to imagine a dog (or any other animal) having a concept of a machine, so presumably they must think a car is another beast.
What do you reckon?March 22, 2013 at 18:05 #433790Yep…..

There are videos of dogs riding skateboards though, in this case is the dog under the assumption that hes tamed a 4-wheeled-animal and is riding it like a dragon, or is he merely confused?
April 30, 2013 at 09:15 #437975I’m pretty sure that dogs perceive cars as inanimate objects, they just might not like the sounds they make. But being the instinctive animals they are, they can probably sense that cars are no living beings. I mean people usually say that dogs can smell fear and if they are clever like that they can probably ‘smell’ that cars are not animals.
Just my opinion though!May 9, 2013 at 08:58 #439106I think it depends on how close they get, like you say, they’ll be able to smell and sense that it’s not real but from a distance they probably do.
A friend of mine was chased through a park by a stag. It was mating season and he was on his bike and thought that the stag must have thought he was another deer.May 13, 2013 at 22:29 #439552Yes but I think they have worked out that they can’t eat them, be eaten by them or shag them, so they generally get ignored by most.
