Usually won by a decent sort, and it’s a small but select field fling to post.

Not a betting proposition for me at all, but I’d love to see Defi Du Seuil improve again for his Exeter win. Thought he was very impressive that day.
The one I’m really interested in long term is On The Blind Side. He’s clearly had some issues, only one run in the last year tells it’s own story, but before the setbacks he looked very good. If he can be forgiven his blip at Aintree then I’d have him down as very interesting long term, and considering connections, possibly even a King George type.
No bet in this, but should be a decent race.
January 1, 2019 at 01:18 #1390942LOST IN TRANSLATION literally smashed the third last against Le Bague Au Roi last time out and was going good at the time. Never recovered from an error like that and is interesting here at 4/1 if error free!!
January 1, 2019 at 16:37 #1390982Well done, Raymo. Nice boost for the super mare too.
January 1, 2019 at 16:47 #1390984Thanks Joe
It does make the mare look even better now
January 1, 2019 at 23:07 #1391054I was quite impressed with that finish Raymo, dug that out well.
January 1, 2019 at 23:18 #1391059Looked outstanding. Would have to be of interest in the RSA and may turn out to be the main challenger to Elegants crown in the 2020 gold cup. One to follow closely for sure.
Tizzard is a genius with staying chasers.January 2, 2019 at 09:57 #1391076Do you think DDS stamina ran out or do you think he would have a chance of reversing the result if produced later? (This is by no means a dig a BG, just wondered if that’s how he needs to be ridden next time).
January 2, 2019 at 10:39 #1391082She’s some mare, but i’d still fancy Lostintranslation to be the better horse in time.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 2, 2019 at 15:58 #1391105FF, here’s my take FWIW
I’d persevere at this 20f trip with Defi Du Seuil. He’s improving and will continue to do so imo, especially in his fencing (he sometimes leaves his hind legs in the birch, often the sign of a stiff-backed animal, but with him it could just be part of learning). That style can be an energy drain.
I think Geraghty is learning too and I wouldn’t slate him too heavily. He grabbed an advantage at what is often a critical point showing unusual speed that late in a race to easily pass Lostintranslation. That burst, along with a springy leap at the last suggests to me that he had more than enough energy left to get the job done. But he idled quite badly to my eye with nothing in front and no fences to concentrate on, and I think Geraghty will delay his challenge next time.
On the plus side, the form of my wee super mare La Bague Au Roi, continues to strengthen and time might show that trying to give 3lbs to the much bigger Lostintranslation was no mean feat for Defi.
The bad news is that yesterday was the first time he has been in a proper fight close home and his head carriage indicates that he is not a natural battler. Sadly, courage cannot be learned.
