For anyone not familiar with the Aussie horse, here is a couple of replays of his last two runs. Not one for the faint hearted backer
June 23, 2018 at 12:13 #1358232Cant make my mind up on him botchy, gave some weight away to merchant navy though…
June 23, 2018 at 12:39 #1358240Redkirk Warrior is a pretty good Australian sprinter, but they aren’t quite as good as used to be. Where as our current sprinters are a vintage lot. Australian racing has a lot tougher rules on drugs these days, although is a cobalt scandal going around there at the moment. Seems strange that Redkirk Warrior is bred for a lot further and was a 10 furlong horse with Haggas. Hasn’t beaten fellow Aussies by far. Wouldn’t judge him on Merchant Navy, that one’s improved enormously since and still on the upgrade. I make the Aussie third favourite as a fair 6/1 shot (with a margin of error I need 7/1 to back him), 1% better than The Tin Man.
Value Is EverythingJune 23, 2018 at 12:47 #1358242Have done:
Harry Angel 3/1, The Tin Man 8/1, City Light 16/1 and Sir dancealot 74/1 with a saver on Merchant Navy 9/2. Is that enough?Value Is EverythingJune 23, 2018 at 13:39 #1358257I shan’t be backing Harry Angel but would still love to see him win and show this country can produce the best sprinters in the world. But alas I think the course and his run style could be his downfall.
They’re going to go quick and that could really set it up for a couple of hold-up merchants, one of which is Redkirk Warrior. The money’s come for him this morning and that positivity is enough for me. I’ve also backed last year’s victor The Tin Man who returned to form last time out (form franked since) and this race could pan out perfectly for him.
Redkirk Warrior 4/1
The Tin Man 8/1June 23, 2018 at 14:30 #1358277They’re going to go quick and that could really set it up for a couple of hold-up merchants,
Only way I can see Harry Angel being beaten, Charles; is if the leaders go off too quick. Which is why apart from the favourite all my other bets are hold up horses. Merchant Navy (Coolmore team tactics with Intelligence Cross and Spirit Of Valor will be to try and get Harry going too fast – for the benefit of Merchant Navy). The Tin Man is always held up for a late run… And two outsiders likely to be right out the back early – the frenchman City Light and at a massive price Sir Dancealot. Wouldn’t put anyone off boxing those four in forecasts, as if they do go too quick they’re likely to be involved in the finish. Redkirk is sometimes held up, sometimes front runs – so I’ve chosen to leave him out.
GL everyone.
Value Is EverythingJune 23, 2018 at 16:13 #1358311It’s Harry Angel 5/1 from last year and The Tin Man 7/1 for me.
I don’t know much about Redkirk Warrior but he’s short enough now.
Merchant Navy looks poor value to me.
Harry Angel and The Tin Man reverse forecast as well.
Good luck.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 23, 2018 at 16:20 #1358313Already on Merchant at 5s. Had a free bet stuck it on Redkirk Warrior.
June 23, 2018 at 16:23 #1358314Come on D’bai!
June 23, 2018 at 16:25 #1358315Oh Shshshshshshshsugar! The spoiler drawn right next to Harry.
Is this the same spoiler who set it up for Harry Angel in the July Cup?
June 23, 2018 at 16:29 #1358316Get in Merchant!
June 23, 2018 at 16:29 #1358317Highly unsatisfactory race. No more to say.
Oh, I forgot. There’s a Jonah worse than my ante-post bets on this forum
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 23, 2018 at 16:29 #1358318I have little doubt that The Tin Man would have won that with a clear run, and probably won it very well.
Unlucky Harry backers.
June 23, 2018 at 16:31 #1358320Hope Harry is alright.
June 23, 2018 at 16:34 #1358322This race could be void here, Intelligence Cross: THE STALLS WERE NOT SHUT. He wasn’t full in.
June 23, 2018 at 16:36 #1358323That was nerve jangling, I’m sorry I hadn’t put my tuppence worth in here,
but I had bet Merchant Navy and nominated him as nap in my Saturday Competition
Bob’s compy and Nathan’s Royal Ascot compy too. I mention them in case anyone
thinks I’m aftertiming.I was amazed they let then go when I think Harry was still playing up. I’ll need
to watch it again, but my first impression is that the starter shouldn’t have let
them go. Bad luck to Harry supporters.June 23, 2018 at 16:37 #1358324It was even worse watching it again; he could’ve wrecked his stifles or broken his near hind. Nobody’s fault.
