Does anyone know why Dettori is not on King of Comedy tomorrow. He’s rode it in 5 of its 8 races, he is at Newbury yet Martin Harley rides. It is clearly not because he’s fallen out with Gosden.
I just find it a bit odd.
    Thoughts please

Joking aside droffats Dettori rides for Gosden earlier in the meeting and Havlin and Harley are among his book of riders. This is just one of those days he doesnt have to splash out on a big fee, perhaps.
There is an article in the RP about Harley who thanks Havlin for recommending him.

Dettori 49 years old, Royal Ascot his fav meeting. He missed it 3 years ago after a fall off a dodgy character just before the meeting. Doesn’t need to take the chance on another dodgy one in a G3 worth only 20 grand at his age.

Think you may be missing a possible obvious reason ……
choice of jockey down to owner perhaps?
It wouldn’t be the first time a rider has been replaced with the owner making the decision.

    I agree with Yeats.
The horse is obviously a bit of a handful – been taken to post early , and led by a lad part of the way previously.
Looks a bit of a complex character in his races to me also , with an awkward , high head carriage.
Frankie probably simply doesn’t fancy the aggro.

Self preservation could be a sign he is thinking about it. The birds around Clarehaven stables are gathering in some numbers enough to put some weight on the trees, and they are not talking tweetie pie or seeds.

Possibly after another pop at the Melbourne Cup. He might stretch out another year or two but fifty which he reaches in December, is quite a good age to retire and Lockdown has made him think a bit more. I am sure he has a plan.

    One bird to another bird…

” We’re not migrating so what’s the big gathering for ?”

    Other bird….

    ” Not a clue mate – I just followed the others ! “
