A Queen’s Visit won the 5.50 at Clonmel unfortunately Des Scahill decided to call the horse A Royal Visit all the way through the race.
Not good if you backed A Queens Visit and thought it had lost to another horse.

June 1, 2012 at 09:08 #406224If memory serves, Peter O’Sullivan retired whilst he still had his dignity. As a result, he is still revered to this day.
Perhaps like the senile, incontinent cat with slimy matted fur on his back legs, Dessie has simply ceased to care. As his loving masters are reluctant to do the kind thing and put him out of his misery, Dessie figures he may as well continue to eat from the bowl so long as they’re still feeding him.
June 1, 2012 at 12:21 #406244I am a massive Sir Peter fan, however didn’t he make some errors later on in his career? I am sure I recall him calling See You Then as "See You Again" for lenghty periods during one of his races (may even have been a Champion Hurdle).
Mind you, and I am sure he doesn’t welcome the reminder, but the considerably younger and more highly regarded (than Dessie that is) Richard Hoiles made an almight mistake at Ascot last year when calling home Horseradish as the leader when it was Hawkeyethenoo, in the Victoria Cup.
June 1, 2012 at 20:12 #406313The "Cats" called some howlers at least a couple of times. Nice to see he came out and admitted them though albeit Im sure a bit red faced….. Richard Hoiles also made use of his twitter account to acknowledge his error, didnt someone buy him a Beef and Horseradish sandwich as a token
November 17, 2012 at 15:33 #420153According to Des Minsk raced against Glens Princess, and even Glens Music at one stage. It wouldn’t have been so obvious if it wasn’t the 5/2 second fav, on a 4 timer and the only obvious danger to the odds on favourite, come on Des!
November 17, 2012 at 17:24 #420170The other day at Naas he was obviously deciding that horses should be renamed due to the current economic climate with Current Recession becoming Recent Recession for the whole race
November 17, 2012 at 17:57 #420175Unfortunately Sir Peter went on a couple of seasons too long – brilliant at his best although I preferred Bromley for superbly built drama and timing.
In what was Sir P’s final season (if I remember correctly) he called the jockey on the leader, as they turned for home at Ascot, Russ Abbot (close, it was Ross Arnott – easily done!)
November 18, 2012 at 02:14 #420205Seems like the Dessie bashing is going on as long as Dessie himself. Some things improve with age some don’t.
