" Leads by two "
Hahahahaha ! What planet was he watching from ?!
May 28, 2012 at 17:34 #405834He does come out with some "interesting facts" – Tonight, "Jeremy Noseda is a season ticket holder at White Hart Lane".
Does he never get sick of saying "Liam Jones went to school with Wayne Rooney", "Mystic Megs horse" or Michael Owens horse"? I do.
I find it particularly distateful the way both Thompson & Chapman constantly encourage people to have a bet for several minutes before each race over the pa, other commentators don’t find this necessary.
Do they both receive a brown envelope from bookmakers for this service?June 6, 2012 at 18:25 #407126You’ve certainly got to hand it to Tommo for name-dropping.
A snippet in the Racing Post reveals that, while Tommo was doing one of his "hey big fella" roving racecourse reporter bits, he "proudly announced" that dual champion jockey Paul Hanagan would be his new neighbour in Newmarket.
I can just imagine Tommo welcoming "Paul Hanagan the Man Again" to his sumptuous home for a special dinner — and taking a quick commercial break after doting wife Julie serves up the first course.
"I tell you what, we’ll be back in just 60 seconds with the main course, live and exclusive here in the sunshine at Tommo Towers. Stay with us. I love it."
Hope Julie doesn’t forget to give Hanagan the bill for the meals, drinks and service just before they take another "quick break".June 6, 2012 at 19:49 #407142He was doing his usual Tommo TV at Cartmel on Monday.
All went ok, its the sort of place where it work with the holiday crowd and was giving lots of things away in his Lucky Bucket which on close inspection now has his name and photo on it in Tote livery.
After the third race i put my losing slips in and got drawn out and ended up the winner of 12 bottles of Cartmel Chaser Ale.
Very enjoyable it was too.
June 11, 2012 at 07:34 #407660He was in action at Newcastle on Saturday night and the crowd seemed to be lapping him up.
Even a heavy downpour didn’t dampen his enthusiasm and he was very successful at getting sponsors and even winning connections to "donate" prizes for his lucky losers.
When the rain got really bad he even ventured into the bar, for which he deserves full credit as I wouldn’t fancy wading into a bar full of "merry" Geordies.
I think even his most hardened critics have to admire the way he can work a crowd.
