How exactly is this innovative and a boost to it’s anticipation and excitement?

May 5, 2025 at 19:20 #1729584This is a minor point, the really important question remains are they doing the draw on the pavement outside Wetherspoons using painted ping pong balls again this year.
Or has somebody watched the video and decided they need a diversion to throw a veil over that disaster.
May 5, 2025 at 19:50 #1729587The balls have been upgraded after asking the FA if they can borrow the FA Cup balls
Maybe they will upgrade location and host it outside Waitrose

That’s unpossible. He’ll be too busy holding his free coffees from Waitrose.

In case anyone wants reminding:
May 7, 2025 at 12:49 #1729665A better idea would be have the horses already down in alphabetical order or whatever and just draw out the numbers for them in my opinion

May 8, 2025 at 12:51 #1729764Another pitiful example of marketing executives who have no idea about horseracing and it’s fan base. How many people are going to watch the live draw on a subscription channel? Will it be newsworthy enough to appear on BBC or ITV news bulletins ? Will it even get a column in the dailies ? I remember poor old Rod Street trying to do his best to drum up more interest in the sport but the initiatives were ill thought out and never going to work. He kept talking about establishing a ‘ narrative ‘but the problem is the sport does not have one. If the Derby is supposed to be the ‘ top of the tree ‘ for a three year old colt, then why is it on the first Saturday in June after just two months of the season gone ? National Hunt racing at least has all roads lead to Cheltenham narrative. The Flat season needs a total revamp.
