What did people make of Magnier’s comments a couple of days ago that Masterofthehorse had put in a good piece of work last week?

Call me controversial but reading between the lines I interpret these comments as tending to suggest on balance and all things considered that Masterofthehorse worked well last week.

Gus its making controversial comments like that, that Gerald would have us banned for!

I’ve got scared of betting on the Flat, and I’m waiting for the return of the jumps in October.

I’m having a bet on Sir Gerry, and that is it.

I think you should Gerald backing a horse who wants plenty cut in the middle of June

I can’t talk though, got my fingers burned on Jonjo’s yesterday. I started afresh after Cheltenham and was winning a considerable amount which has just vanished  Granted I have a few AP bets running for me over the weekend plus a few others later but it’s kinda sickening the amount of mistakes I’ve made.

This Derby has been driving me nuts trying to work out what’s what and I probably still got it wrong.

I am totally convinced and always have been Fame and Glory can NOT win the Derby and if I am wrong I am taking time off from betting and sit back and watch my few AP bets run.

For those who support Fame and Glory I’m not knocking him when I say he can’t win it just that I think he would make a grand hurdler

I’ve backed Crowded House again after the confirmation that he runs. I can’t get his run at Doncaster out of my mind, absolutely smoking past the entire field. I know that the form has not entirely worked out, but I think at the prices, he offers a bit of value.

I was at York for the Dante, and that was too bad to be true, and i’m glad he scoped badly afterwards.

I’ll be doing a couple of forecasts and tricasts involving Crowded House, Montaff and South Easter.

I’m gonnae say it how it is and tell you i’m not gonnae study the form of the rest of the field until they show previews on the telly on the day of the rae. The simple reason is i went for Crowded House before his re-appearance and have decided that i’m just glad that he’s running and threw a shilling or two on him at 33s aswell after run confirmation. I’ve got the blinkers on.

I’m not one for stats by any stretch of the imagination, but i did notice the other day that O’Brien seems to do better in this race when he has fewer runners. I think he won it in around 2001 when he had 2 runners, then the following year when he had one runner. Something like that anyway.

That was in the RP I think, referring Gallileo and High Chap. Last year his best finisher was Washington Irving, 5th @ 33/1.

AOB is always going to have large number of horses in the derby from now on,and the reason for this in the past most of there best horses mostly from danehill/stormcat and were mile/quarter horses. Given that danehill is dead and storm cat has been retired, plus the fact that montjue and gallieo have done so well at stud these are ones that coolmore are going to buying at the sales.

This is bad news for Blunkett, but my last minute bets seem to be the same for both The Oaks and The Derby, Wadaat, Montaff and South Easter..and pondering on Crowded House..thankfully didn’t get the bet on Three Moons that I was planning.

I think Black Bear Island has been overlooked here somewhat, being the stable 3rd string. Full brother to High Chapparal and won the Dante on merit which IMO was a better run than F&G in the Derrinstown. Well worth a bet at the currently 17/2 available.

Seen as the last Derby winner I had was Kris Kin, I can jinx selections myself!!!

I don’t normally bet in the Derby. Thinking through the past winners, the last, and only Derby winner I have backed is Nijinsky.

edit: I did however fancy Sinndar, Motivator & Authorized, but without betting.

    Hello there,

I’m little curious about the Ballydoyle jockey booking debate.. I just cant fathom that an organisation that is so meticuloulsy planned as Coolmore would allow their retained jockey to actually have the choice of which horse to ride.
Surely Murtagh was TOLD who he would ride in the race right?

Well, after the Dante, Jamie Spencer said about Crowded House along the lines of "Ignore him at your peril".
I for one am keeping faith with CH and I think he’ll run a storming race on Saturday.
