Not sure if he’ll be free to ride but Barry Geraghty has always been a good sub for Nicholls
February 13, 2010 at 19:09 #276290Indded Drone – perhaps I got a bit carried away in the choatic aftermath.
February 13, 2010 at 20:07 #276318I think it should be Sam but i think they will stick with AP. Not my choice though!
February 13, 2010 at 20:13 #276324A poll worthy of the Betfair Forum
Nice one Cormack

I like your new signature, Drone. I’ll claim to be the inspiration.
Land Ho!
February 13, 2010 at 20:24 #276336Sam Thomas should get the ride because simply he did not deserve to be jocked off in the first place.
February 13, 2010 at 20:52 #276356Loyalty is a fickle word in racing,i have £30 on Sam at 7/1 to ride Denman and so he should as i have said for the last year!
Unfortunately now if they dare jock off McCoy,who"s record is 2nd to none,it would seriously undermine AP as a "horseman" but it would also slap the face of credibility in connections decisions! Today was a car crash for credibility!February 13, 2010 at 21:48 #276384Sky Bet go:-
4/7 McCoy
6/4 Thomas
12 C Williams to take the Gold Cup rideFebruary 13, 2010 at 21:54 #276390Unfortunately now if they dare jock off McCoy,who"s record is 2nd to none
except at recent Cheltenham Festivals, where he’s second to pretty much everyone?
If they were too stubborn to stick with Sam Thomas, then they should have been straight on the phone to Barry Geraghty.

…Not on Denman it isn’t…. on him it’s last of four
it would seriously undermine AP as a "horseman"
and what did their first decision do to Sam?
but it would also slap the face of credibility in connections decisions!
Surely all "credibility in (those) connections decisions" was lost in the vision of Denman running loose while McCoy sat on his ar*e on the turf.
I hate so say "I told you so"…but I did…. although I get less than zero satisfaction from being right on this occasion. Although the owners got exactly what they desreved
Today was a car crash for credibility!
And some
February 13, 2010 at 22:01 #276395Cant disagree with that Cheltenham!

Yep GH , you’re my back Door man

You men eat your dinner
Eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken
Than any man ever seen
I’m a back door man
The men don’t know
But the little girls understand
Sam McCoy may be a better jockey than Jim Morrison but neither is as good as Willie Dixon, who however is not so good as Tony Thomas, but – it goes without saying – only at Arapahoe not Louisiana
people are strange

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve become Geraghty’s biggest fan this year. He has that ability that Ruby has to make horses run for him. None of which has to do with style, or technique, it just seems to happen.
Diamond Harry confirmed that for me today.
February 13, 2010 at 23:11 #276451I’ve had a sizeable bet on the Kauto Star / Imperial Commander forecast in the GC. Therefore I voted that McCoy should ride Denman.
February 13, 2010 at 23:28 #276460I would choke on my sunday muesli were I to learn that Messrs Findlay and Barber had decided that Anthony Peter McCoy has ridden and fallen off Denman for the first and last time.
He WILL keep the ride – unless AP decides to give it up. More chance of that happening than Tiger Woods suddenly finding celibacy more appealing than, er… golf.

Five to one, Drone, one in five.
No-one gets out the Champion Hurdle thread alive.

Why did you throw the Jack of Hearts away?
It was the only card in the deck that I had left to play
February 14, 2010 at 03:02 #276498All this stuff about judging a jockey on one ride, whether it’s AP, BG or anyone else is just silly.
BG rode Diamond Harry well. But that is just daft to judge him on; as it would be for judging him on failing to get Spirit River to jump in the Totesport Trophy.
AP came off Denman and is castigated for it, yet won the Totesport Trophy, surviving a blunder at the last where many jockeys would’ve fallen off.

I don’t believe Denman has a hope in hell of beating a fully-fit Kauto and never have, but if I owned him I’d be wondering what Timmy Murphy was doing on Gold Cup day.
I’d be wondering if he’d win over the Ryanair trip

The day AP gets jocked off there will be a blue moon in the sky.
