Do people remember Dean Mckeown? He came up in conversation for me with my old man the other day. The pull he took on Rascal In The Mix was unbelievable. I was incredulous that day seeing that ride. My father at that time used to use some tipping services, so was probably on some kind of list these people share. He received a letter in the post not long after Dean Mckeown was warned off from Mckeown, advertising his new betting service, which incredibly was using his angle as a corrupt jockey. He was advertising his service as ‘knowing who would lose’, who were non triers and to lay them. Wish I had kept the letter now.

Remember him being effective on Rambo’s Hall but so was Dandy Nicholls. Perhaps the horse went well for a rogue.

Yep those were some of the bad things about Dean Mckeown.
He was a useful jockey winning at every track.
The Rambo’s Hall story is a great one, winning the Cambridgeshire by over six lengths before being sold to race in the States. An unsuccessful time over there seeing him return for a fraction of his price injured and unwell.

Trained back to race fitness and health, dropped 20lbs to win the race again.
Rambo’s Hall was quite a character who bit anyone who got too close.

    If you google
Rambo’s Hall: talent tamed by pony and unleashed on fabled straight
There is a very good RP account of the tale.

This thread got me searching for the Sean Boyce interview with dear old Deano, but the trail went cold after reading my way through multiple prelimarily court hearings. Does anyone remember how Deano’s writ eventually turned out? I presume that’s why the video of the interview is nowhere to be found. As I remember it was a classic, on a par with the Curley one they always wheel out.
