Just crossed with your post Nathan and you are spot on.. These compys are sometimes tough to run and like you said BigG in particular battled through his own bad health and his wife’s to post several great compys and the Tote 10 to follow with great write ups.
My little comp is there for anyone who wants to post up their choices and enjoy the racing this week. ..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 29, 2025 at 14:28 #1737082Have I got this correct, dfward is withdrawing from this competition because there is no Goodwood competition?
July 29, 2025 at 18:52 #1737117Looks that way, oh and the breeders cup one
dfward has been a member for 13 years so I don’t think its a bad strike for the forum to miss two comps out of how many in that time span? its pretty amazing to be fair and shows the commitment of those that run them, think of the hours put in so we can have that extra something to enjoy whilst watching the racing.

July 29, 2025 at 19:48 #1737120Those that run these comps should get more praise, its not easy to give up x amount of time to add up the scores.
Especially the longer ones like this, run by Nathan and the TRF 10 to follow run by VTC. Its a lot of work and time they put in. Plus the likes of the Raymo clan (amazing what they do for us), then Rummy, Hot Fuss and Tryptich for the Saturdays that we all enjoy.
Anyway, best we keep this on track and not deviate from this fantastic comp.
Nathan thanks again for doing this.July 29, 2025 at 19:49 #1737121woops..forgot BigG..
July 29, 2025 at 20:03 #1737123I had noticed no Goodwood comp last year and I think the Breeder’s Cup been missing for a couple. Personally I like entering these comps only missing Royal Ascot these last couple of years because I’m on holiday when it runs. I admire those who give up a bit of time in running them. The ones I run the Saturday Handicap because I’m usually working on Saturdays it can be hard to go for the most competitive race especially on a quiet weekend, then the reserve race I pick might cut up.

Thank you to all the people who have made their thoughts known regarding the competitions – it is greatly appreciated. However, I do feel I have to make my own comment about the following post from dfward:
“What a pity there was NO Goodwood competition this, year The last few competitions have been neglected as there was,no Breeders Cup competition as well”
I feel this comment about the competitions having been “neglected” is totally unfair! Here are the competitions we have run over the past few years:
Cheltenham 2023 2024 and 2025
Aintree 2023 2024 and 2025
Epsom 2022 2023 2024 and 2025
Ascot 2023 2024 2025
Goodwood 2021 2022 2023 (Big G ran 2024 by the way)
York 2023 and 2024
How on earth can you say the competitions have been neglected??? As and when you are prepared to take on running a competition, then maybe you will have the right to criticise others who are doing the best they can when they can.
Again, many apologies to Nathan for “gate-crashing” and ranting!
July 30, 2025 at 12:16 #1737180I for one appreciate all who run any completion on here the time and effort put in by you guys should be applauded not critised
July 30, 2025 at 23:43 #1737277It does seem daft to withdraw from a Competition because of the lack of Competitions.

I think we’re very lucky to have so many and the time and effort taken to run them is always appreciated. 👏
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 31, 2025 at 06:24 #1737281The competitions are a fantastic part of TRF. I am personally hugely grateful to everyone who runs them, I know from personal experience how time consuming they can be especially when, like we all have, there is other ‘stuff’ going on in our lives.
I do find dfward’s protest stance puzzling, withdrawing from the Daylight Cup because of no Breeders Cup or Goodwood competition.
As Mrs Raymo points out there are plenty competitions and at this moment in time there are several others running concurrently to this one.July 31, 2025 at 10:07 #17372882nd August – last 16 2nd leg
