Daylight Cup 2023

names to participant need to be on this thread before 23:59 on the 14th of September
The draw/format will take place just after.. straight 2 legged knockout dependant on numbers
The competition will run each Saturday onto its climax

Format

28 competitors will make up 4 groups 0f 7 each which draw at random from random.org
The top 4 from each group will progress to the last 16
the groups will last 4 weeks and individual scores from each week will be added together to make a total points (no head to heads)
if 4th and 5th are tied the highest individual score on one day from the 4 weeks will progress
round of 16, round of 8 and semi finals will consist of 2 legs with the highest scores of each tie progressing
The final will consist of 3 legs with the winner the competitor with the highest combined score from the 3 legs
if any ties after the legs are completed it will go on highest points scored from Nap leg one, if still tied Nap leg 2 and then down to 2nd selection. If both legs are tied on everything then highest points from group

Rest week – FINAL OF SELECT 3 – 21st Oct
second leg – 28th Oct

second leg – 11th Nov

Semi Final

first leg – 18th Nov (I’ll be away this weekend, if someone could score it would good)
second leg – 25th Nov

first leg – 2nd Dec
second leg – 9th Dec
third leg – 16th Dec

The Daylight Cup is run each year in memory of Craig (Daylight) the founder member of TRF who sadly died in 2006
It use to be run alongside Bob Rolf’s 4pp competition which is currently on hold

The format will probably be (99.9%) a straight knockout.. a draw will take place and contests consisting of two legs (one a week) with the highest scorer of each individual contest moving forward into the next round, like a FA Cup but two legged.
The winner will be whoever wins the final when we are down to the final two contestants

Selections will be made from English and Irish races each Saturday with a cut off time of 1 hour before your first race including reserves

You select 4 scoring horses plus reserves

Points will be scored from bob’s 4pp table with a twist of raymo magic for the big priced selections

In all races of up to 4 runners – only the winner scores
In all races of 5, 6 or 7 runners – the first two score
In all races of 8 to 15 runners – the first three score
In all races of 16 to 21 runners – the first four score
In all races of 22 or more runners – the first five score
