    El bodegon 4/1

A group 1 winner at 4s will definitely do me

Form couldn’t be working out any better and the trainer sounds very hopeful of a big run

    Good calls, chaps.

Desert Crown is ludicrously short on what it’s done, whereas El Bodegon has beaten The Derby favourite when winning a Group 1 at Saint-Cloud, and Royal Patronage was only beaten six lengths in what looked a decent 2,000 Guineas, beat the Guineas winner in the Royal Lodge at two, is a course winner in the Acomb and on breeding wants this trip.

Both have ORs of 112 and both are too big a price.

Not sure we should look at last year’s form as a guide to the Derby. Stone age has improved immensely and looks a much stronger horse. But the form does look solid so should be fascinating to see how this pans out. Desert crowns price tomorrow and for the Derby are bizarre in the extreme especially on the vibes coming from the stoute camp. Not sue why folk say the Derby is muddled. Aiden has a very strong hand and it will take a cracking performance tomorrow to change that. Hopefully we see a good winner

    Nice price on RP Mike.

I’m toying with the idea that Masekela might be of some form of interest. Clearly has to bounce back but some of his 2yo form is pretty strong and i think he really did run flat on his last run of the season at Newmarket.

His run this year while being beaten convincingly wasn’t bad and Eydon looks a decent sort.

Plenty have question marks for the race.

Balding does well at the track and while he hasn’t been firing winners left, right + centre he’s been running close quite a lot so i’m not as bothered about stable form.

    Royal Patronage 5/1

His breeding suggests that he should be able to handle 10-12F. Put a line through his final race as a 2-year-old in the Futurity at Doncaster on heavy going and his form is on par with this field. He was 8th of 15, beaten 6L, in the Guineas which is respectable given the quality of the race. I don’t see a Golden Horn here so it’s any runner’s race….

I’ve chucked Magisterial in a double with King of Bavaria (4.10).

Best of luck to all :good:

Saw El Bodegon’s victory in France. Excellent form but showed a very rounded action so may well be better on softer. Not very big either and we may have seen the best of him at two.

Desert Crown was – still is – a daft price on what he’s done on the track. Action should be suited by a sound surface.

Royal Patronage was very flattered when beating Coroebus last year. 6th in the Guineas more his level. That shouldn’t be good enough in an average Dante, but may improve.

Magisterial won easily on reappearance, well bred and stable in form but has a bit to find.

Two form horses against two with potential.

    Too difficult to work out.
    No bet.

Nice win by Desert Crown. Just hope Richard Kingscote keeps the ride at Epsom.

    Me too Ghost’ :good:

Wouldn’t want very soft ground but other than that should take a lot of beating.
