Most systems posted on places such as here are based on one particular theme but I will try to do something a little different by posting selections (daily if possible) having all been made via just one morning paper, in this instant it will be the Daily Mirror.
There will certainly not be any objection from myself should others wish to post their own Mirror or other paper selections and perhaps will be fun to compare.
The first is not a system but simply following the Pro-Bet selection as and when published. I have flirted with these picks off and on but of late have decided to follow the suggested stake allowance which may not always be played as suggested (e/w or win) I will decide depending upon the price available.
Today = RAINBOW PRIDE (5.00 Salisbury) 1pt. At 9/1 I am splitting the 1pt e/w. 2nd @ 14/1The second system I call BIG 3 and has been a massive winner for me this past month and has been the motivation behind starting this thread. It is always a worry posting at this time of year when so easily it can all go wrong but it will be interesting to see just how it transfers from the flat to the jumps and once the autumnal rain starts who knows what will happen. The BIG 3 is simply 3 elements, 1) the Spot Horse, 2) endorsed by either one of the tipsters, 3) short in the forecast. I select the one horse at the largest forecast price. Now and again I also flirt with the 2nd choice as well.
Today = DOMTALINE (2.19 Bangor) I have tested mostly with each way stakes but have checked back and proved win only stakes was the clear winner by a huge margin. Won 11/2Third is BIG SF and is very much a play on BIG 3. Search through the race cards choosing all the indicated SF selections which are endorsed by the newspaper tipsters and also the SPOT horse. Once again preferring the one at the largest of all the forecast prices.
Today = EUGINIO (7.10 Kempton) fcSp 9/4 but at a small 11/10 price on the live market 2nd = Lost. Because of the poor available early price I have for the first time dropped to the “F” selections and am also playing BEDROCK (3.30 Nottingham) fcSp 9/2 available at 3/1. 3rd = LostI have been trying to chase down without any joy a system offered to me a few years back but he closest I have found comes from the Racing Ahead 20 Super Systems booklet where it is called FANCY PRICES and maybe worthy of a try out.
Races with 8-12 runners but the SF choice is the one at the largest price of 5/1 or more. If none check the “F” choices for 5/1 or more and bet the highest of them all each way. This is a fresh run for me and have no idea how it will go but it fits nicely into the Mirror “basket” and as always I am prepared for minor alterations such as todays choice is forecast at 9/2 but available live at 5/1.
OUTRE MER (3.00 Nottingham) Won 7/2I have been urged many times in the past to look for betting opportunities at better prices than those offered about the short priced favourites, something I fear for myself has been easier said than done but without any doubt whatsoever BIG 3 has proved to me to be the way to go and hope by posting them here will not be the undoing of such a wonderful start.
I am very pleased with the first day posting results making +7.4pts from 5 x 1pt bets, if only every day could be this good!

September 30, 2016 at 09:30 #1265172It will be nice to end the month on a high but there was an uneasy feeling about some of the selections, either being rank outsiders or in races with little form but having now placed the bets it all feels a little better.
Pro-Bet = Newcastle 5.20 THE RESDEV WAY 2pts @ 5/2 Won 6/4
BIG 3 The Resdev Way Won 6/4 is covered, GLENDUN 7.20 Newcastle. Maiden with little form.
Ascot 3.10 ORNATE 1 pt @ 5/1 2nd 5/1 = lostBIG SF = Newcastle 8.20 ASTROPHYSICS 1/2pt e/w @ 8/1 Non runner
Fancy Prices = Newcastle 6.50 ZAMADANCE 1pt @ 5/2 Lost

Pro-Bet saved the day and provided a 3rd winning day on the bounce.

I will keep you posted Purwell should I get a reply.
With no spare time today as we are making the trip to our little oasis of calm in Norfolk plus the rain and Saturday is very often a losing day for me all makes good sense to give my betting a miss.

October 1, 2016 at 19:15 #1265367There is one day in the week when it is possible to get my bets away early because the Saturday edition of the Daily Mirror carries Sunday’s cards with full information.
With 3 national hunt meetings there are few races worthy of risking my money especially as it is my experience the weekends winner finding is more than a little bit difficult, perhaps I am being over cautious but with two factors causing concern (1) lack of NH form 2) so much rain around) I am looking to France for a little sport.
I am only able to do this because The Mirror has printed all the Chantilly cards and info which is not normally available and this is therefore a very tentative experiment.
Big 3 Chantilly 1.10 DABYAH 1 pt. at 4/1 Lost
Big SF Chantilly 1.45 KONTRASTAT 1 pt. at 2/1 Lost
Perhaps it is good French racing is only available via the Mirror now and again!

October 3, 2016 at 09:52 #1265505Today – Monday – looks a more interesting day: –
Pro-Bet – Pontefract 3.00 BLAIR HOUSE 2pts at 13/8 Won 9/4
Big 3 – Pontefract 2.30 Father McKenzie 1pt at 4/1 Lost
Big SF – Southwell 3.10 DEBECE 1pt at 1/1 Lost
Fancy Prices –
Windsor 2.20 GLORIOUS FOREVER 1pt at 3/1 Won 13/8
Southwell 4.10 QUIET SOL 1pt at 7/2 2nd = Lost
Windsor 4.20 GENEVER CONVENTION 1pt at 4/1 Won 4/1
(Fancy Prices suggests each way betting but because the prices available are shorter than forecast my bets have been at win only)A very satisfying return of +15.5 points 0n a 7pt outlay but the “Big SF” is starting to look very dodgy indeed!

October 3, 2016 at 18:57 #1265537Well done Nathan, as you know only too well I have ever only played small stakes and my one point represents £1 and when 1/2 point each way is a small 50p each way but I am happy because I will never go broke.
After far too many years I am still uneasy regarding some of the choices and yet other days as per today the selections mostly fell within the zones of 2nd 3rd or 4th in the markets and at prices to return a nice profit without being in either of the extremes of too short or too long and unlikely to win.
I did think of dipping my toe into the Saturday competition once again but the weekends have rarely been kind to me, I find them ultra competitive whereas during the week feels to be more profitable.
May we both continue to take back a little from those that have taken more.

October 4, 2016 at 09:49 #1265590Tuesday, the weather is dry and sunny, I always feel more confident about rating biased selections rather than changeable rain affected ground conditions and so is one less worry to think about.
Pro-Bet – none today.
Big 3 and Big SF – Leicester 4.20 UNNOTICED 1pt. each way at 11/2 Lost
Fancy Prices –
Brighton 2.40 LAW POWER (fcsp. 6/1) 1pt. at 9/2 Lost

October 4, 2016 at 10:37 #1265596It can be enlightening to wander round different forums and take on board ideas from other “posters”. Today’s Big 3 and Big SF choice – UNNOTICED (4.20 Leicester) – can possibly cross over via the SYSTEM 12 posted by Loanshark on the RACE CALLER forum – systems section.
The theory being the horse number 12 on the card of best handicap of the day may be worthy of a wager. Originally the day being Saturday but Loanshark is testing daily for a month just to see, as he puts it, if it has legs.
Although 4.20 Leicester is NOT the best (most valuable) handicap race of the day I do believe it to be the one with the largest field but the possible “cross over” or coincidence being UNNOTICED is number 12.
