I think it’s unfair to accuse Ethan of ‘hounding’ people Cormack. I read this section every day and it’s obvious Ethan is only calling out those posters who, either directly or indirectly, are advertising subscription-type tipping services. Ethan also regularly posts encouragingly on those threads that are honest, well-intentioned attempts to pick winners (see Douginho’s thread, for example). WFM racing will charge you £20 per month or £1.50 per minute for the privilege of their ‘expertise’. There seems to have been a proliferation of these sort of posters of late and I think Ethan is doing this section a service by highlighting this rubbish.
Until recently there were a series of good, often long-running threads near the top of this page by the likes of Bulwark, Carvills, Marble, Cavelino and others (plus one awful one by yours truly it must be admitted). Gerald bumped them all the other day to make this very point I believe. These days Lays and Plays is full of what are effectively little more than free adverts.
June 13, 2009 at 18:46 #233700I have never encouraged anyone to sign up for my premium service
as for this been rubbish well I think you should look at the amount of
interest daily.Wfm Racing
June 13, 2009 at 20:53 #233724You advertise the name of your tipping service (twice) in every single post you make Are you suggesting that in doing so you have no interest in encouraging users of this forum to visit your site?
I personally couldn’t give a gnat’s chuff how you make money but don’t insult people’s intelligence by pretending you’re not using the forum to advertise your service when you quite clearly are doing just that.
June 13, 2009 at 23:30 #233746I think it’s unfair to accuse Ethan of ‘hounding’ people Cormack. .
He definetely hounded me, to the point where most of what he was posting was ludicrous, ridiculous and in some examples libelous.
But I agree with most of what you post and it’s interesting to see that now Ethan’s gone we’ve had more tips/lays/plays today than most of the last 3-4 weeks?
Long may that continue.
June 14, 2009 at 20:52 #233886I have been a regular reader of this forum for the past 18 months and like
Steerforth
have read this section almost each day.
I am in agreement withSteerforth
when he said, "I think it’s unfair to accuse
Ethan
of ‘hounding’ people" and as he goes on to point out
Ethan
has encouraged and applauded many of the regular members on this section to carry on their threads.
There have been lots of threads started in this section in recent months by posters where either the object of the exercise is to obtain free advertising or to draw attention to a supposed third party one.
The statement thatWFM
makes about "I have never encouraged anyone to sign up for my premium service" is absurd when he only draws attention to winners and over states his winnings. If that is not blatant "encouragement" I don’t know what is!
It is not surprising thatEthan
was asking for last month’s results to be published as I have taken
Cormack15’s
suggestion to him and used my calculator most of this afternoon to work out the figures.
I calculate the total loss for May to be approx £165 and assume thatEthan
knows this!
It stands to reason that no one in their right mind is going to spend £1.50 a minute when selections are shown at a loss.
To allow Commercial Services or those with links to them to post and make extravagant claims without being able to challenge or question them brings into question the integrity of what the forum stands for and the enjoyment of the forum.
Again I have to agree withSteerforth
when he says "I think
Ethan
is doing this section a service by highlighting this rubbish" because if it wasn’t for the likes of him some of the rubbish would have just been accepted.
Perhaps that’s why a couple of posters are hostile towards him.Cheers
ChrisJune 14, 2009 at 21:04 #233890Good post Parkie, welcome to the forum.

Professional scepticism and questioning of facts presented is an acceptable part of forum like these. Hounding and libelous comments however are not.
As I said yesterday I find it interesting since Ethan left us, we have had more daily lays/plays/tips that a while.
A coincidence or due to more reasoned logic?

June 15, 2009 at 00:11 #233913I have also been reading this for a while but only read and never post because i find some of it childish behaviour and rather not get involved.
I wish to read about racing and other members opinions .
Though i have posted because i find something a little strange here,
Forgive me if im wrong but i thought you had to be a member to read this forum . If this is tha case then Parkie……….you joined today ! ?
How have you managed to read this for the past 18 months if you only joined today ? Or was you a member under a different maybe?
Now im not accusing you of anything just curious as to know if you are able to read posts if not a member?
Anyway apart from that ………good luck tomorrow all !June 15, 2009 at 00:21 #233916Many thanks for the welcome
Nathan
it’s very much appreciated.

How do you know
Ethan
has left us he might just be away for the weekend ?
I don’t think that 2 new threads constitutes a "huge increase" in threads.
The reason for more threads cannot be down to Ethan leaving because he hasn’t said he has and I’ve not seen an announcement that he has left.Theracingscope
is a new member and so was not here,
Gingertipster
as
Steerforth
says is a member who
Ethan
complimented and encouraged. That leaves
Manugirl
but perhaps the best solution would be to ask them.
The reasoned logic would actualy be that people in the past have been put off posting due to the proliferation of Commercial Services and their wish not to be associated with such. Add to that Geralds bumping up of the genuine threads of course.
Whatever the reason it cannot be down toEthan
leaving because we don’t know that he has!
Cheers
ChrisJune 15, 2009 at 00:22 #233917I posted last post to prove a point to another member but no one has responded to my last post.
I just like to say that it is possible to view posts without being a member – because like Parkie i have ! So without mentioning any names please leave me out of this silly nonsense and thats the last i want to here of it ……….im here for racing ………
Good luckJune 15, 2009 at 00:30 #233918Hello
Racingscope
I’ve been reading it the same way you have if you have only just joined you would know that you can read the forum but not post unless you are a member.
I don’t understand why you would not know this!
Does that mean you have been reading the forum as another member and did not know it was a public one?Cheers
ChrisJune 15, 2009 at 01:27 #233927Parkie
.
I’m led to believe the
Ethan
has been permanently deleted from the forum for breaching the rules of the forum.
But he also might be away for the weekend….

June 15, 2009 at 02:08 #233938Yes i did know this was open to the public – i was just proving a point to someone – sorry but i wont go into detail ,,,confusing to be honest and dont want to make it more so.
Anyway apart from that lets talk racing , any fancies for tomorrow ?

ChrisCheers Parkie, nice to know others are seeing it as I do. And you hit the nail on the head with your last comment I reckon.
June 15, 2009 at 04:37 #233947I dont know why im bothering even writing this but i will …..yes i do know/have viewed this forum without becoming a member untill recently but a very well known and reputable member of this site and whom i flatshare with kindly let me have the use of his pc for this. .
I DO NOT wish and indeed do not need to explain myself anymore and will not to respond to any more posts regarding this matter – but those with a backward nature can waste their time if they have nothing better to do, unlike some of the unfortunate past members of this site , i wont rise to the bait …In a nice way….no more childish immature posts please – PERIODI am however willing to chat about racing ( for which this site is meant for )
Good luck , lanceJune 15, 2009 at 17:11 #234026If Ethan has been deleted from the forum then thats a shame. He is one of only a few (Equitrack, Gingertipster, Steerforth another few off top of my head) who posted anything encouraging on my thread. He was just trying to police the section of those who are appearing to advertise, whether they are or not. Lets all be friends again huh
June 15, 2009 at 18:03 #234046Hi Doughino ,
your last post is the most sensible posting on here for ages ive read, yeah lets all be friends and hopefully we can all put our heads together and beat those bookies ,
good luck all ,
