Have been persevering with HP for the past few months. I find it ok but I grew up with Daddies Sauce. So I at last remembered to get some from my local (Big) Sainsbury’s today. They don’t stock it!! Horror
So… can anyone tell me who stocks it and do they still make it?July 9, 2008 at 20:47 #172573Up here we can get in from our local Asda
July 9, 2008 at 21:01 #172574I’m going up there soon so I’ll fill me boots if It’s not down here. Though I suspect it is somewhere..maybe Waitrose. Do you have those up there?
July 9, 2008 at 21:07 #172577As a possible alternative, I got some of that Reggae Reggae Sauce (off the dragons den) the other week and its pretty good (whilst not a million miles away from brown sauce). Even goes with cheese and toast.
July 9, 2008 at 21:15 #172579Is it hot Bulwark? I always assumed it was. Still that chap has done well. Good for him.
July 9, 2008 at 21:29 #172580Not really, its about the same sort of hotmess as brown sauce I suppose, just got a slightly different flavour. Its not like hot like tabasco sauce or anything.

July 10, 2008 at 22:56 #172761As a kid, I was always a bit creeped-out by the picture of the bloke on the bottle (presumably Daddie himself?), and was forever more an HP advocate.
In fact, I’m surprised to hear that Daddies is still a going concern – I must have a mental block about it, because if asked, I would honestly have said that it must have been discontinued yonks ago.

I can’t remember the bloke on the bottle just now, but I do remember Big Daddy advertising it on telly ca 1982-3.
I think it was all part of some masterplan to up his profile even further than World of Sport already had done, one which should have included him presenting The Saturday Show – the network syndicated replacement for Tiswas – on Saturday mornings from Autumn 1982 onwards. He swerved that gig at the very last minute for whatever reason, though, leaving us with an Isla St Clair and Tommy Boyd-fronted abberation instead. Cheers, Shirley…

July 23, 2008 at 10:21 #174360Brown, no face but that matters not cos I just had a huge bacon (unsmoked back) sandwich (Crusty white doorstep, thin spread of slightly salted butter ) covered in the stuff…Absolute heaven
