Glad to see that the connections have made, in my view, the correct decision and decided that he runs in the Supreme rather than the Champion Hurdle.
I cannot understand why you would risk him being over awed by taking on more experienced horses than he has to. I applaud the decision as he has his whole future in which to tackle the Champion.February 16, 2011 at 12:49 #340878He was always going to run in the Supreme Novices due to far superior rivals in the Champion Hurdle. Having backed him at 7/1 prior to his reappearance this year, I will gladly now take him on with Nicky Henderson’s Sprinter Sacre.
February 16, 2011 at 13:19 #340885On the face of it after last years saga its a welcome development that a trainer whose horse has a confirmed stated target in one race at the festival but is left in another, has stated his reasons for doing so.
Apparently Cue Card’s winding up process has just begun, so what happens if he burns up the gallops over the next 3 weeks?
Keep an eye on those markets…
February 16, 2011 at 14:41 #340890Am a relieved man.
I’ve been on since the Champion Bumper last year. I think 5/2 is still massive.

Good luck with that Ginger, though I think you might need it. Half-lengthing another horse that also needs a greater distance wouldn’t be my idea of a Supreme winner.
February 16, 2011 at 17:21 #340907Depends on the type of race and who he does the half-lengthing to Reet.
When it is a slowly run race and beats a horse with a chance of winning the Champion Hurdle 1/2 length. Finshes only 4 1/2 lengths behind the Champion Hurdle second favoourite, and is still improving……
There aren’t many novices capable of that.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s no certainty. But surely must have a lot better than 28.6% chance (5/2). If he were Nicholls or Henderson, ridden by AP or Walsh you would struggle to get 11/8.Value Is EverythingFebruary 16, 2011 at 17:27 #340909I keep trying to find alternatives…and I can’t.
Agree with CR though, I still wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the trainer changing his mind.
February 16, 2011 at 17:37 #340912I am in a no lose situation anyway. Backed @ 16/1, laid it back @ 2.8/1.

On the book there are none. At least with Cue Card you only need a little luck (given the pilot) rather than the miracle if you have supported Zaidpour. It appears Spirit Son/Sprinter Sacre have become the new Zaidpour’s in the market.
