Hi People!
Some people on here have asked me to post this as a reminder.
Although it is a very sad time for me with the death of a much loved friend, I make my full Flat Racing Debut as a Commentator on At The Races this weekend commentating from Turfway Park!
Post Time is 5.10PM British Time on Sunday. I will also be on this coming Wednesday announcing at the same track on ATR.
I appreciate all your support, hope you can catch a race or two!
I will use this thread to try and post my thoughts leading up to the day and appreciate any comments to my posts and feedback on my performance.
Many Thanks,
Craig.
March 19, 2009 at 20:24 #217385Good luck with the calls Craig, hope they go to plan.
Remember to keep it as British as you can and to make sure you get as many puns in as possible.

March 19, 2009 at 20:34 #217388Best of luck Craig.
Copious use of the phrases "in the van, "pulling double", "home for all money", "every post a winning one", "good posi",etc…please.
Resultant accusations of arrogant bullying or the Brit who thinks the world is his should be met with a wide yawn as you walk on by…..
March 20, 2009 at 00:30 #217432Good luck! I’ll try to remember to tune in and listen
March 20, 2009 at 05:00 #217481Broadcasting myself this Sunday so will probably miss it, Craig! Very best of luck nevertheless, and nail it for your mate – it’s what he would have wanted for you, I’m sure.

March 22, 2009 at 18:11 #217877Hi Craig,
Don’t know if you’ll get this in time, or if it’s something you’ll fancy doing but I’m sure the producers of the Stateside coverage here at ATR would love to get in touch with you either today of some time soon. Would think it would make a nice phone interview?
Drop me a mail if you can and I’ll pass on your details if it’s something you’d be happy to do.
Cheers
Sean Boyce
ps best of luck hope it goes well for youMarch 23, 2009 at 06:50 #217988Thank you everyone for your kind comments.
I dont know if the team on ATR had anything to say about my commentating but although it took me a race to hit my stride, the day went pretty well. I know some of the guys on TVG had fun with my accent.
I made one mis identification which I immediately corrected, and in one race 2 horses in blue silks were 2nd and 3rd in the final furlong and I transposed them but corrected it on the next call.
I would give myself a C.
The strong points were I gave each horse a mention, I think from listening you could always tell where your horse was and I am told I was easy to understand.
Will be back calling there on Wednesday and hope to build into this now I have day one under my belt, I suspect Wednesday will see the potential I showed today flower more fully.
Some work to do but its time to shine!
Many thanks, all!
Craig
PS: Calls will be on my site later this week. Or of course you can watch ATR on Wednesday evening!
March 23, 2009 at 10:40 #217990I heard race 3 and I thought you were absolutely fine! Very clear, no mistakes that I could hear, so I’ve got no criticisms at all
There’s people been doing it donkey’s years that don’t do it as well as that.March 23, 2009 at 11:31 #217992Was very good! Well done
Any plans to try make it over here?? You should try, though guessing the weather is better over there
