I did have the winner in my forecasts but couldn’t get the second LOL
June 20, 2017 at 20:34 #1305205I think maybe a few of us were guilty of looking at the winner’s form and sniggering out the word: Newcastle.
I went in this morning and backed Headway at 33/1 but alas not each-way. I was sweating profusely expecting a big price winner a furlong out but it wasn’t to be. I seriously rate the Haggas horse – keep him on side this year.
June 20, 2017 at 21:43 #1305221This was a race for small stakes only. I was disappointed by the Hannon horses. Denaar had early toe but he dropped away very tamely. De Bruyne Horse started a run but simply didn’t maintain it. I’ve already binned the Guineas ticket.
It was a race that told us nothing. Brother Bear wandered and I just wonder if he might do better with a little juice in it. I had pondered about the fast conditions earlier. I did mention the winner, he was the last that I had a word on earlier but I didn’t think he was up to this.
It’s 25/1 FAV Brother Bear and 33/1 bar for the Guineas. I can’t recall that after a Coventry in my life.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 20, 2017 at 21:47 #1305222Rajasinghe could be anything but I reckon he needs to come forward a good bit in this company. He’s not crying value to me at a general 10/1.
Mentioned on the thread, so relax people. If only he’d been 11/1 at the time, I would have had a bucket load on

June 20, 2017 at 21:55 #1305224Like you Steve, I have no idea what to make of this form. Rajasinghe is by Choisir and probably not a Guineas type.
Headway is impossible to assess – I thought he’d just nabbed the best draw and might have been flattered when he won at Chester but he is obviously better than that. The target switch-ups tell you the Coolmore horses are no good. Brother Bear didn’t help himself but hanging so badly – perhaps wasn’t handling the quick ground?
I was disappointed by De Bruyne Horse, had every chance and just couldn’t go the pace.
I think the percentage call is to take a negative view until proven otherwise.

I’m mystified by it myself. If I had to take one going forward it would be Brother Bear. I think he’s worth forgiving on a day of so many fast times.
Later on in the day I watched Declarationofpeace go off a silly 13/8 and finish stone last of 22. I didn’t play in the race and promptly watched my Norfolk Stakes ante-post at 14/1 Sound And Silence go and win it. I had backed him at Sandown last time and he faded behind Havana Grey into 4th place.
William Buick referenced that run and said he, and the team were scratching their heads after that run. I was scratching my eyes out. The boot in the plums promptly followed today. Racing eh?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
