I’d have to argue that Elzaam’s maiden form isn’t working out at all well. Runner-up Sir Reginald made hard work of beating Rojo Boy (comfortably beaten at Evens on his previous start and a further four lengths behind his conqueror when they met at York) at 4/9 on Saturday, the second and fourth from Rerouted’s subsequent victory have been beaten at 11/10 and 2/5 and the likes of Tinkertown simply didn’t let themselves down on rock hard ground.
He (Elzaam) was one of the first horses I eliminated.
Zoffany was impressive last time out, but the time was nothing special and he likely achieved very little in beating Schriobhai for a second time (and by a reduced margin, conceding less weight). Sheer Courage was also a taking winner when last seen, but I remain sceptical about the strength of a 10-length maiden victory at Leicester.
Strong Suit
has by far the best credentials having won nicely at Newbury and the form of the race couldn’t be better; Neebras (2nd) won easily next time, Formosina (3rd) was wildly impressive at Doncaster on Sunday, Straight Line (4th, beaten 9.25l) had previously run well behind Hannon’s own Zebedee and Major Conquest (6th, beaten a feckin’ mile) has since won at Salisbury.
And although it pains me to say it, I think Tony Culhane has a part to play on
Galtymore Lad
. Quite what happened on his first two starts I don’t know – memories of Yurituni – but he won well from some promising animals at Pontefract and should appreciate the testing six furlongs.
June 15, 2010 at 10:55 #300733My 100% book:
Strong Suit 100/30,
Elzaam 7/2
, Zoffany 5/1, Samuel Morse 13/2,
Sheer Courage 14/1
,
Roayh 20/1
, Klammer 28/1, Galtymore Lad 33/1, Planet Waves 50/1,
Chiswick Bey 66/1
,
Amwell Point 66/1
, Move In Time 500/1, Mullins Way 1000/1
Figures in bold show those I consider currently value, though have not backed Chiswick or Amwell (margin for error).
How does your 100% book compare?
Value Is EverythingJune 15, 2010 at 15:14 #300861Have just done elzaam 9-2, roayh 25-1 and cheswick bay 50-1. Also like amwell pinot but didnt back. Good lookin list imo ginge, almost identical 2 my list.
June 15, 2010 at 15:35 #300869Richard Hills strikes again!
June 15, 2010 at 15:41 #300872As a layer of Strong Suit I couldn’t have been any happier through most of that race. Fair play to the horse he pulled my pants down that’s for sure, though Richard Hills may have well just undone the buttons

-24 Elzaam 2nd
-8 Roayh 3rd
-9 Sheer Courage
Race deficit -41 pointsAaaaaagh! Second and third (Roayh @ 37/1) Elzaam backed @ 4.8/1, in to 3/1, looked the winner, got unbalanced hitting the front. Richard Hills couldn’t go for everything,
not his fault
. Unlucky in one sense, but Strong Suit got a nightmare run through, winner on merit.

I think him looking over at the big screen in the final furlong rather than concentrating on riding a finish probably
was
his fault and I am fairly sure Elzaam would have won otherwise so small was the margin of defeat.
June 15, 2010 at 20:27 #300950Was hoping that someone would give Hughes some credit for winning despite all the bumping and barging.
August 8, 2010 at 17:20 #311739I"m of the opinion that Strong suit wont have the gears for a race like this,i also believe Samual Morse will be a much better 3yo who will find this too much too soon!Elzaam is a horse i like a lot,he looks like a Derby type already. My selection is
Zoffany
,this fellow looks to me like a horse who will probably show signs of greeness throughout the race and will pull a bit but when Johnny says go, whoosh! 5/1 is the best i could get!
Patience is a virtue! Thankfully
Memory
doesn"t fall into the Strong Suit Category, she is different Class!
August 9, 2010 at 03:59 #311795I just love the concept of quoting oneself. No higher authority can be referenced.Like complimenting one’s self in fact. But I jest.Excellent choice of Zoffany to win today. The Ante-Post King can do no wrong.

I’m afraid someone beat him to it. Always looked the nicest colt in the yard for mine. Team riding tactics sure helped his cause yesterday. You didn’t have to be a wizard or a king to work out what would happen.

TAPK,
Fair dues, you are not only commending yourself when your selections win, your patting yourself on the back when your selections lose, then win next time out, did you get paid out on Zoffany in the Coventry?

Here fishy fishy …….. LMAO. Good to see you were that easy to hook Andy. Take a deep breath and a long bath mate.

Now it’s taken a while for Moby Dick to resurface. Must be polishing his throne.
August 12, 2010 at 04:20 #312332Do I have it now?
