Not for the first time in a race of this nature, it’s the Elliott Runners catching the eye, and in this case, the top three in the weights.
Out Sam is only a few pounds higher for last year’s win, and heads the market at a fair looking 6’s, while Gun Digger, who is all potential, looks big at 16’s.
I could easily split my Stakes three ways here, but for now, it has to be Woods Well. Ran a solid race in both The Topham, and The Irish National to top off a decent season, and the 16’s looks huge. I’ll definitely take some of that, but straight away I’ve taken the 12’s, as I can’t see him out the 4……..if he lines up. His price looks totally wrong to me, which gives the suspicion he might not be going.
Woods Well 16’s, and 12’s EW 4 Places
October 30, 2019 at 21:56 #1473330I like Gun Digger as well. I think the market will be the best guide to his chances in the next 24 hours, but at 16/1 he does look overpriced.
October 31, 2019 at 20:45 #1473391Steady at the moment on him Autumnal, but he’s a big price alright.
November 1, 2019 at 17:22 #1473485I’ll wait until tomorrow night for my bets, but I am going to go with The Red Menace and Oscar Knight in this.
November 1, 2019 at 22:50 #1473559I’ll be holding off myself now Jeff, but I will be going with three here.
It’ll still be Out Sam, but I’ll be switching to The Gatechecker EW.
November 3, 2019 at 06:58 #1473817Gun Digger travelled and jumped well for a long way at Galway before getting tired. If he has got a bit of beef off in the meantime he might keep going for longer. The market is not optimistic about him although that could just be due to the non big name jockey booking.
Gun Digger 20s ew 5pl
November 3, 2019 at 09:34 #1473822Will go with Progress Drive here- was very heavily punted last time on his first start for Cromwell perhaps he wasn’t as fit as they thought.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 3, 2019 at 11:55 #1473834Jack, that is very much my line of thinking here.
I thought that he always threatened to land one of these for Richards, but it did not materialise.
For all that he was a disappointment at Listowel, that market support was telling, and I will go with 12/1.
November 3, 2019 at 12:05 #1473837Cloudy Morning for me. Plenty of stamina and ran well over a mile shorter than this in September. Wasn’t disgraced over hurdles last time out either over 2 miles and he should be spot on for this. 8/1 very fair price.
November 3, 2019 at 12:17 #1473840I agree with CLOUDY MORNING everything about him suggests he wants a trip
November 3, 2019 at 14:47 #1473861Port Aven @ 6/1 is worth a look in his first handicap for Mullins.
November 3, 2019 at 15:21 #1473872I can safely say Woods Well won’t be winning as he’s hit 33’s, but I took him again anyway.
Also took 22’s for Out Sam.
Both Five Places.
If I was starting from scratch, I’d be with Pont Aven.
November 3, 2019 at 15:43 #1473873Jack, that was an awful run. I can’t see myself persevering with him in the future.
VtC, I don’t know where you pulled The Gatechecker from, but that was a very good pick.
November 3, 2019 at 15:54 #1473875Gun Digger jumped OK but fell out the back of the telly again. Won’t back him till he has a wind op or whatever it is he needs. WD VtC with the spot.
November 3, 2019 at 16:49 #1473880Thanks guys, got 28’s, but that late (stupid) Top Up on Woods Well made a big dent.
I was ok with Out Sam, as that bet at 22’s was my only go, but I had three separate bets on Woods Well.
Still, happy enough I suppose, he certainly care to my recuse.
November 3, 2019 at 17:44 #1473889Superb picking Bobby
Yes SS, he was very disappointing!
