Hi guys,
What do you think of this market? Surely Easton Angel @ 5/1 (with Coral, 4/1 generally) is too good to be true.. up against the likes of Brando, Kachy, Outback Traveller I think this is the bet of the week!
Am I missing something?
June 29, 2016 at 21:17 #1253507I would be very suspicious of the draw RL on this one.
Sandown five furlongs can get very draw dependent and at first glance SPIRIT QUARTZ would be interesting as it goes on soft ground and Mr Cowell will know the time of day. But I would wait for decs to see where the pace is and where the fancied horses are drawn.
June 30, 2016 at 21:47 #1253667Easton Angel is out.
I have taken a chance on Willytheconquerer each way at 16/1.
He started the season quite well and I don’t think he’s that far behind these in ability.
Log Out Island is hit and miss and Brando is too short in my mind. Spirit Quartz is getting long in the tooth and I am not sure how good his latest win actually was.
3yos have done quite well in this of late and I think 16/1 is a bit of value for Willy.
I make him no more than 10/1 here.
Willytheconqueror to battle to victory here.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 1, 2016 at 00:30 #1253717I think JANE’S MEMORY could take this. Frankie Dettori is a significant booking by Rae Guest and she will love the soft going.
If you take a line through Mirza who ran in a Group 3 in France in May also ridden by Dettori, although he didn’t win the race (4th) he had Monsieur Joe (7th) and Spirit Quartz (9th) behind him. I would think Rae Guest would quite fancy Jane’s Memory in view of this and the fact that she is the only 4yo in the race and the latter two are twice her age.
Jane’s Memory also ran 2nd to Goken in a Group 3 in France back in 2014 before her year off and Goken ran 3rd to Profitable in this years Kings Stand Stakes (Group 1) at Royal Ascot this year.
JANE’S MEMORY to lead them home. 16/1
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 2, 2016 at 10:20 #1253904I wouldn’t usually back a horse like Brando for this seeing as he hasn’t won a race above a class 3 but he looks like a progressive sprinter and will also like the conditions.
I have had a look through future entries for this field and Brando has got the Group 2 King George and Group 1 Nunthorpe on his agenda.
He will have to show that he can compete in those events with a good effort today because those two races will be a lot deeper than what is on offer here.He is a bit too short in the betting in my eyes (I would have liked at least 4/1) but he has a good profile and I hope he runs well.
July 2, 2016 at 13:56 #1253982Might come a bit soon for Monsieur Joe, after his midweek exploits, but at the price, think I’ll give him another chance, and maybe Duke of Firenze to chase him home.
July 2, 2016 at 14:00 #1253984I’m with Willytheconqueror, I know I’ve missed the price but 8/1 is still ok.. straight win – he did finish 2 lengths behind Easton Angle my original selection – How Brando is 9/4 in this race I don’t know
July 2, 2016 at 14:03 #1253986Well egg on my face there… good win from the favourite
July 2, 2016 at 14:35 #1253998Well done Chivers
July 2, 2016 at 14:47 #1254000Thanks VTC, it was to his disadvantage that the field weren’t good enough for him. In a better race with something to take him into the lead, he could be a big danger in group 1 & 2 company.
I can’t see him being as good on good/good to firm though in group company so he will want this unsettled weather to continue.
July 2, 2016 at 16:34 #1254033Well done Chivers what a star
Happy with my 3rd Jane’s Memory but she was well beaten by Brando..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 2, 2016 at 22:11 #1254097I felt sorry for Log Out Island. He ran another stinker today and looked feeble in his attempt to get to the front.
He was beaten very early on today and you would swear it was a different horse to two runs back. He looks a problem horse and one to avoid.
Brando cruised and looked like hosing home but it was a scrap in the end. Monsieur Joe has found his form again and was fairly flying late on.
Congrats to winners and each-way placers, a few fancied ones never showed with a chance today, including Willytheconqueror, who ended up too short in the end.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
