He’s had his fun, now it’s time to pull up the drawbridge and stop others.

Which is also how the lecturing from former colonial powers and first world countries is perceived by “developing” countries. i.e. “We’ve spent 200+ years using up all these resources while you were sat in caves but now we’ve all got to stop, sorry about that”.

    Very true Salut,
Countries don’t want to make a real effort because those that go first will be at an industrial disadvantage… Which I can understand.
But on the other hand you have countries with loads of coal (etc) who say the West got rich on coal so why shouldn’t they? Which I can understand.

Looks impossible to get a consensus.

You can say one certain thing
    about David Attenborough
    he loves his monkees.
I’ve always shared that passion with him,
    and as a kid that’s all I
    wanted – a monkee.
However we differ on the issue of size.
I’ve never liked the big ones.

“Apparently Johnson had to fly back due to constraints on his time. Fair enough, that may be true”.

It turns out he wanted to attend a dinner at the Garrick Club. Must get one’s priorities right!

I bet the dinner was not plant based…

Yes, I had read that Cork. Absolutely staggering, I did try to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one but more lies. And still they’ll try to make people feel guilty for jetting off once or twice a year for a holiday.

In fairness, I don’t think they are complaining about people going on holiday once or twice a year. Although personally never been abroad, can’t see the point when Britain is so beautiful.

However, have recently been persuaded a “frequent flyer tax” may be a good idea. Something like anyone taking three or more trips a year has to pay a tax for each flight more than two.

« Im sure there are things china could do to help »

Like actually taking an interest in the conference and not building yet more coal fired stations perhaps?

And all this crap about « ah yes but the west burnt coal too you know! » is meaningless. We are where we are. thats it.

The nation-state seems incapable of confronting global issues; too many vested interests, too many leaders concerned with their own status. COP seems a bloated farrago, and it’s easy to despair, but despair is luxury our children can’t afford

Not sure you can “blame” Carrie, or should that be “thanked”, Ricky?
Both Boris’s sister and particularly his dad are heavily involved in climate change issues too.

If there is only a good chance of man being responsible for the majority of climate change then what’s been achieved at COP26 (if followed through) is good… As long as it doesn’t put those acting at an industrial disadvantage.

    Thanks Ginge

We need to look at the total picture

China emits 65 billion tons of carbon each yr. about 66 pc of the worlds total

We in the uk do less than1 pc

Time to get real. Net zero will never happen. Russia. Mexico India and China ignore the COP MANTRA

Carrie is the culprit in my opinion

Cop is a total failure. The major polluters have ignored it

    😋😋😋😁😋😁😁

15 grand for heat pump that wont work

It will be rejected by the electorate.

I was so inconvenienced today I had to engage a real cop and don’t you know you really have to sell your soul to get a crime reference number. I got one.
Then on my homecoming I was greeted by an infestation of flies – about 50 of them some fast, some slow, all biggish- appeared out of nowhere. A wet drying cloth is the best method and caught a lot on the window pain. I was seen. There’s a few lurkers keeping low – that’s why I am drinking now – to get up the courage to sleep with them.
