And arguably a mature 6 year old hurdler should be far more robust than a 3 year old too
aob gets some justified stick at times but look how Dylan thomas was campaigned to name just one? It was terrific for the sport and the horse thrived too
April 21, 2022 at 19:54 #1595065Ought to also add that the top flat horses often travel all over the place. Bloody Australia too They think nothing of long boring check in at terminal 5 with all those screaming kids and having to take their shoes off to avoid the metal detection
NH horses seem to have a fit if they have to get the ferry across to Ireland

I find it kinda odd that a 6 year old NH horse is considered young whereas a 6 year old Flat horse is deemed as something like ‘passed its peak’.
April 21, 2022 at 22:48 #1595078Mother Earth is another good O’Brien example from last season – 10 races at Group 1 level covering Britain, France, Ireland, the USA and Hong Kong.
April 22, 2022 at 08:50 #1595152Yes that’s impressive campaigning markingford. That could be the sun total of CHs career ffs
I’ve always preferred NH racing but I’m swinging back towards the flat a little more simply because of this issue.
April 22, 2022 at 13:23 #1595178Yes, same here. I’ve always preferred NH to the Flat from when I first started following the sport as a schoolboy; it just seemed a more earthy, hardier and atmospheric sport. I still enjoyed the Flat, but come the Friday of Glorious Goodwood, that meant the start of the NH season – and 2 months of low grade stuff on firm/hard ground, were Pipe/Scudamore got winners aplenty.
However late September brought the first Cheltenham meeting, and Chepstow was around the corner, with the BBC TV cameras, and winter was nearly here. I just don’t get that same excitement anymore, and I don’t find the current Chepstow meeting that special (even though they’ve added the Persian War Hdle).
April 22, 2022 at 14:13 #1595186Flat is glorious
the jumps is split into two sections for me Cheltenham and Cheltenham prep

April 26, 2022 at 16:39 #1595680Mighty Potter, who couldn’t live with them in the Supreme Novices, gives the Constitution Hill form yet another boost.
April 26, 2022 at 17:05 #1595687Perhaps – but Dysart Dynamo bombed out and Sir Gerhard did not show up. Looked like a soft race that did not take much winning.
April 26, 2022 at 19:30 #1595737Yeah as much as I’m on the CH bandwagon I have to side with CAS here, haven’t watched the race yet but looking at the result you’d have to say it should be taken with a pinch of salt given the performances of the market principals.
April 26, 2022 at 19:34 #1595739I think Jonbon’s subsequent Aintree victory tells us all we need to know about how good a Supreme it was.
The time and the 22-length winning margin offer steers too.
I wouldn’t be worrying too much about a horse who didn’t even get round bombing out today.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 26, 2022 at 19:55 #1595747I am not worried either, ID. My faith in Constitution Hill is unshaken. Such was his superiority, I do not really believe the form has to be boosted.
Well done to Mighty Potter but it means very little with regard to next year’s Champion.
April 26, 2022 at 19:58 #1595751Too true and we can enjoy the remaining two runs of his career
October 22, 2022 at 20:40 #1619634He’s drifted out to 6/4 from 1/2 in places for the fighting fith. Now only 2nd fav.
Christ, I hope there’s nothing a miss with him but it doesn’t look good.
October 22, 2022 at 21:11 #1619638Constitution Hill is still 11/8 for the Champion Hurdle and no one is thus far hoovering up the requests to back at 2.4 and above at Betfair Exchange.
It may simply be that stablemate Epatante is now being aimed at the race instead.
Yes, that could be due to Constitution Hill having a setback, but his yard prioritises Cheltenham Festival winners above all else and it wouldn’t actually surprise me if he missed both Newcastle and the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park and just ran at Sandown Park in February before going to Cheltenham.

October 23, 2022 at 01:31 #1619679Nicky Henderson has always got a yarn on him.
If he could sell his enthusiasm I would be sleeping all night to get in the queue.
Thank you ghost
