He’s a lovely looking horse.
I imagine he would do well at ROR showing. He might also enjoy hunting / team chasing.
November 30, 2025 at 12:44 #1746228Timeform now added the X rating for poor jumper 166x
Agree he would make a good ROR horseVF x
November 30, 2025 at 12:55 #1746231As has already been stated. If the horse was so afraid of hurdles, he would’ve run around them yesterday when loose but apparently, he flew over a few of them.
Nico has completely lost all confidence in this horse and the horse can feel that. He clearly didn’t look confident onboard when approaching those 2 hurdles and the horse is possibly guessing due to this.
There’s no way I’d be retiring CH at 8yo without at least giving Cobden ago. Nico might be a bit hurt but surely he could understand on some level. He’s fell off him 3 times in a row now and very nearly came off in January also.
Bowen rode him at Punchestown and while clearly unwell, the horse still didn’t fall.November 30, 2025 at 13:06 #1746235After watching his last race, I am convinced CH will be retired. I wouldn’t bet on it though!
November 30, 2025 at 13:12 #1746236I have made a schoolboy error and posted in the wrong thread.
Whatever happens to him get the Hill in a horse box and down to the nearest sandy beach – it is clear he needs a change of scenery – this is often described as a holiday. Maybe 🤔 Spain ?November 30, 2025 at 14:15 #1746242According to connections he’s still the best in the business.
Speaking on Sunday, the trainer said: “He’ll have a quiet week and we’ll rethink the whole thing. It’s very sad and it’s disappointing, from Michael’s point of view and from everyone else’s. He’s the best horse in the business but it’s horrible to watch.”
November 30, 2025 at 14:29 #1746245The best horse in the business that hasn’t won a Champion Hurdle for almost three years.
November 30, 2025 at 14:55 #1746253I think they might have a go at the Christmas Hurdle, unless Lossiemouth comes over. Can’t see him being campaigned at the Champion Hurdle with another prep run. It could be the Kempton or The International at the end of January.
The horse won’t run in any kind of Flat race other than a Jumpers’ Bumper, which seems highly unlikely.
November 30, 2025 at 14:59 #1746254I think he’ll run in the Christmas Hurdle if he’s sound this week. If Nico’s onboard though, down he goes again.
November 30, 2025 at 15:04 #1746258“I think they might have a go at the Christmas Hurdle, unless Lossiemouth comes over.”
I’m sure they’ll be petrified of Lossiemouth, after beating her comfortably last year when she had race fitness on her side…
November 30, 2025 at 15:07 #1746260If he is the best in the business NH racing truely is dying , he cannot jump and chucked it in over in Ireland , before that hardly seen in public . Its a wind up surely , he is done as a jumps horse .
November 30, 2025 at 15:14 #1746261He won’t beat her again if he can’t jump.
November 30, 2025 at 15:41 #1746265Its a wind up surely
His entire schooling reports are hard to believe.
Lossiemouth will easily beat him over her favorite trip should they ever meet again at Aintree.
November 30, 2025 at 16:53 #1746275“He won’t beat her again if he can’t jump.”
True. But if he stands up, he beats her.
November 30, 2025 at 17:01 #1746277Probably, Glad. But we are talking about a horse that has had a lot of problems and his head seems to be scrambled. And based on his last 4 starts, it is 1/3 he doesn’t even jump around.
I agree with Daryl Jacob on RTV today. Henderson looked like a defeated man yesterday. He doesn’t seem to know what to do with the horse now.
I think we need to accept he isn’t the horse he once was. It is sad but that is the way it is.
November 30, 2025 at 17:07 #1746279As previously posted, I would like to see him retired: his confidence is shot over hurdles, and he’s too old to compete at the top level on the flat.
However, if connections want to persevere with him over hurdles the only viable route is to try a different jockey, as proposed by others in this thread. The horse hasn’t fallen while running loose, so it appears that there’s a trust issue going on between him and his rider.
I would hope that Nico has enough class to take being “jocked off” graciously and see it as being in the horse’s (and potentially his own) best interests.
November 30, 2025 at 17:08 #1746280Someone has already mentioned a change of scenery but can’t see the owner doing this.
The more I know the less I understand.
