If you can’t see the difference in sentiment between this thread and the other thread then I despair.
And please Pinza, no philosophical ramblings and pedantics on how it
might
be different.
My problem RH, is that Pinza is an agitator, and an agitator of the negative type (like those trolls Ken (West Derby) and Conundrum for example) that switches people off forums like this. He’s been warned on a couple of occasions (privately and publicly) on certain aspects of his forum interaction(s) and my patience is wearing thin.
I’m not looking for excuses Pinza – I’d like nothing better than for you to just concentrate on debating in the way everyone else does – but I have no intention of every thread on this forum developing into a lengthy, pointless and personalised war of words between you and whoever might disagree with you.
There – another thread ‘Pinza’d’. QED.
November 19, 2011 at 17:58 #378661I don’t much care who started what thread as long as news like this comes to the fore.
Will PS still be posting here? It would be interesting to hear what he has to say now it doesn’t matter what Big Brother thinks.
The fact he came on here and posted at all speaks volumes for the guy.
Takes some balls to put yourself up to be shot at and keep a level head.
Hope to see him around in the future.
November 19, 2011 at 18:22 #378668Heck its getting Tetchy around here

regarding silvoir , it would be good for him to post again , fair dues he has shown real guts in posting before , albeit a bit quiet recently , however it has to be said , the whip debacle did not help him at all….
Good luck to PS regardless
Hey Corm take a step back , you are in danger of imploding dear boy
best

Well put H.
Paul seems a man of integrity to me.
Couldn’t blame him if taking time off to enjoy his new arrival before making any decision on a job search. Wish Paul and his family well.
Value Is EverythingNovember 19, 2011 at 18:32 #378672It is quite right for David to start a new thread.
On the other thread any good wishes towards a man who’s often put himself out for this forum – is likely to get drowned in an anti-whip / anti-BHA swamp.
Paul Struthers deserves more than that.
Pinza, give it a rest mate. I don’t want to see you leave this place.

Well said GT, got to be careful what I say – don’t want to upset Marton, but for the record on this thread:
Thanks PS, for your imput to the forum and best wishes for the future which I hope is still within the game.
November 20, 2011 at 07:00 #378762Unlike messrs Roy, Steir, Morris et al, Paul Struthers came across as a decent bloke, who I think was often shafted by his paymasters (remember the Levy Debate on Sky Sports News that got delegated his way?)
The paternity leave and subsequent announcement of his departure appears to explain his recent silence on the whip issue (as a father of two young children I would not begrudge him his time with his newborn).
Wish him and his family all the best for the future. As others have said, maybe we will see more of Silvoir on this forum.
November 20, 2011 at 11:34 #378804Pete – I’ve had sight of the post that Matron moderated. He was absolutely right to do so.
It never entered my head that Matron was actually a man and it has come as a serious shock to me to find this out among all the fall-out about Pinza.
I’m going to have to alter radically my image of Matron as a formidable, large, uniformed, Hattie Jacques figure from Carry On Doctor and other Carry On films from my nudge-nudge boyhood days. Talk about having your illusions shattered.
Oooh, Matron. Pass the smelling salts. Perhaps I’ll stick to Barbara Windsor as the nurse from now on…..
Kenneth Williams will be turning in his grave.
One of my favourite lines from the Carry On films was Kenneth Williams saying: "Matron, I was once a weakly man." Only for Matron to reply: "Once a week’s enough for any man."
Nearly up there with: "Infamy, infamy. They’ve all got it in for me" (the Kenneth Williams/Julius Caesar line from Carry On Cleo).November 20, 2011 at 11:55 #378810He was too reactive rather than proactive. Failed in his job to paint the BHA in a good light. Good decision to get rid of him after recent events.

When you are the contact from an organisation to the world I can’t see you can anything but reactive. If he had concentrated on using staements that would ‘paint the BHA in the good light’ then presumably you would have been moaning that he was being misleading.
I’m quite sure Paul is better off out of his position at the BHA. He’s got plenty to offer the sport and hopefully he will now secure a postion where he can do that. I’m surprised he’s stuck it out for so long, but then I’m not sure I’d be keen on jacking a job in on the spot.

You have a personal dislike of the man. Is this due to actually having met the man in adult life or did he beat you in a game of conkers at school?
November 20, 2011 at 20:52 #378906I think the new organisation, if Paul Bittar’s initial comments are any guide, will be much more guarded, much less open and much more marketing-speak led.
November 20, 2011 at 23:36 #378931Corm , I hope you are wrong , we had enough of that double dutch from Mr Coward, who has happily departed
Bittar is the only hope for a sinking ship
I found it strange though that PS was very muted through the whip debacle , perhaps his hands were tied , but strange nonetheless

Failed to paint the BHA in a good light ???.
Friggin Vincent Van Gough, Picasso and Monet in a joint venture couldn’t have done that with 100,000 gallons of ICI Dulux

It was perhaps a fortunate coincidence, but the whip furore erupted during his paternity leave didn’t it?
So he was perfectly within his rights to forget his salaried job while concentrating on propping eyelids open for four-in-the-morning soothes and the regular wipings of a tiny bum
I feel sure PS is a ‘new man’
November 21, 2011 at 10:57 #378961Drone , my bad , (as they say in forum land) if that is the case , I withdraw my comment , and apologise to PS , hope your enjoying the sleep (if your lucky )
I was under the impression PS went on paternity leave towards the end of the debacle
When I was working , your wife had the baby and you were back in work the next day …..another new labour balmy idea imo
In any event good luck PS

When I was working I had a female colleague who gave birth on a Saturday and she was back in work the following Monday.
