Paul Struthers is on what would some would say very well-earned paternity leave – his recent absence, for me, is akin to the fabled Dutch youngster who plugged the hole in the dyke, taking a break due to exhaustion.
Thought that lasted a fortnight top whack, no ones heard from him for weeks.
I’ve heard his job title is to be changed to Non Communications Director of the BHA.November 1, 2011 at 17:00 #375410Mystery solved! Mr Roy has been busy failing to get a reasonable levy agreed. Shame he and his team advised the tote be sold off to a tax-avoiding bookmaker rather than keeping it, and all its profits, within racing to offset the inevitable decline in levy from other tax-avoiding bookmakers.
I believe the official BHA line was to sell it on to someone who would then sell it on to someone else for a profit – there was a two horse race and the BHA backed a loser that never had a chance
November 1, 2011 at 19:18 #375442Paul Struthers will return when it suits Paul Struthers i.e. when he has good news to announce.
My guess is that it will be to announce the result of the current corruption enquiry which the press are barred from.
November 1, 2011 at 19:34 #375451Because most programmes involving boys with their fingers in the holes of dykes take place after the watershed?
If you have been watching such programmes for longer than 10 minutes I think you better check to see how much you have been charged.

I’ve heard his job title is to be changed to Non Communications Director of the BHA.I don’t think his fortnight is quite ‘up’ yet. I’ve had a few differences with Paul both here and on Twitter but for my money, he’s one of the few at High Holborn with the necessary nous.
I don’t know what part, if any, he played in the timing of the implementation of the new whip rules, but, in general, I’ve found him logical, helpful and communicative.
In his absence, I’ve read one statement from his stand-in and it was full of management-speak including this gem: ‘we hope to formalise our engagement with the PJA’ – from battling to betrothal in 24 hours.

Surely there’s a good case for them to be sacked?November 4, 2011 at 20:11 #376030

Who are these people responsible to?
Surely there’s a good case for them to be sacked?Their not man enough to accept they’re no longer an asset to racing and have done nothing in way of improving the sport, the righteous thing would be to step down and admit defeat and let someone more capable take over.
Oh no, they’ll just keep digging that hole further into the ground.
November 11, 2011 at 17:30 #377322Any sightings again this week?
Have they been out and about enjoying racing?
Is silvoir still on paternity leave? He hasn’t been doing much
communicating lately.November 13, 2011 at 13:37 #20215Eyebrow raising comments about structural changes and ‘capability issues’ within the BHA from new boss Paul Bittar in interview with Down on CH4 just then (I think it may be a repeat showing so apologies if this has already beencovered in the forum somewhere).
Interesting times ahead for the regulator.

So even though you have scant knowledge of them someone is ‘sensible’ in your world because you appear to think they agree with your views on the whip.
You get more childish with each post.
November 13, 2011 at 14:38 #377661Stilvi , you need to take those tablets dear boy , your posts are more puerile each time
I will not bother replying to you again
November 13, 2011 at 14:44 #377662He comes across well, no doubt about that Ricky.
November 13, 2011 at 15:05 #377666Corm , the humour , the lack of arrogance , the way he spoke , it augurs well for racing
I have no doubt , he is hugely capable ,if Mr Roy had a part in appointing him , he must take some credit (chokes …..)
Plainly all stakeholders including punters will get a fair crack of the whip

Racing can look forward to some common sense , which in all fairness has been missing of late
I wonder how RFC will bode

Ricky
November 13, 2011 at 15:30 #377670I would not be at all surprised if Mr Bittar has already planned Roy’s exit route.
November 13, 2011 at 15:37 #377672Paul , one can only hope ….it would be welcome in my household
curious interview though , I would imagine the bookies will be saying thank goodness , someone to do business with
I think we have heard the last of the Mr Roy 130 million wish list , in my opinion
There will have to be a firing to balance the whip debacle , I do hope its the man who is least loved in the weighing room
Ricky
November 13, 2011 at 15:44 #377674I’ve been agreeing for a long time with the view that legislation is the only way out of the Levy mess so it is good to hear him talk in those terms. Let’s hope he has the determination to get past the invitable and numerous obstacles.
