Ante-post king, just one question. After the Fighting Fifth, and Christmas Hurdle, how in Gods name can u justify putting Binocular at a shorter price than Go Native??? If ur going to go on the bare form, Go Native should be closer to 3/1, and Binocular around the 10 or 12/1 mark. Again, yet another punter who doesn’t give Go Native the credit he deserves and has earned. Nevermind, thats why hes still such a good price!!!

It’s all about opinion Aido.
I’d certainly have Binocular bigger than 4/1, but can’t blame TAPK having him shorter than Go Native. Binocular has run a long way behind last season’s form. If he came back to that (Ascot) form, he’d be difficult to beat. Was only just behind the first two in the Champion when thought to be a gallop short. Made a serious error at Kempton, just getting in to it. Would like to know why he’s been below parr and the chances of a return to form is getting less.
You can quite easily pick holes in Go Native’s form, even though victorious in 3 grade 1’s. The Fighting Fifth was run at a funereal pace, resulting in a three furlong sprint. Looking back at the runners form beforehand; the two who had more speed than the rest were Sublimity (group 2 form at 1m) and Go Native (second to Hurricane Fly in another slowly run race as a novice, going equally well as that horse 1 1/2 out). Was disappointed with Binocular though, should’ve shown more speed. Solwit was the one who had least speed, winner at 2m4f at Aintree, left behind between the last two flights and did well to finish third.
Take the below form Binocular out of the Christmas Hurdle and what did Go Native beat? Think he’s a bit better than the result (idled), but Starluck was travelling well too. Can’t see the form being good enough come March, but not saying he won’t improve. I know he won the Supreme, but do wonder whether Cheltenham will suit as much as either of the two speed tests at Kempton and Newcastle.Value Is EverythingJanuary 5, 2010 at 20:39 #268057Ante-post king, just one question. Aido1,you may ask me more than one question if you wish, you are obviously well mannered in that you know you should only ask Royalty one question!I am 100% convinced if there is one horse in this years Champion hurdle who hasn"t showed his true form yet its Binocular, why is that? because he is being laid out for the Big one! why is that? because he has the form in the book, the book of potential Champion hurdle winners,he has arguably got much more to give than what he has shown this year and i believe he will show it in the Champion hurdle. One of the main reasons i am convinced he is being brought along slowly is to give him plenty time to come to the boil, being trained by N,Henderson only confirms my thoughts, being owned by JP Mcmanus absolutely convinces me he will be my (Celestial Halo) main danger yet again!I still maintain the best bit of form for this years Champion hurdle is Celestials Wincanton win,the weight and clock confirm it.if thats so,then we all know what Binocular did to him last year! I agree with you,on this years "Showings" Binny should be 10/1,i"m sure you dont need me to tell you about seeing the wood from the trees!
January 5, 2010 at 22:18 #268088Grassy, all races shown on RUK last year were available on their website all year. You just needed to register (For free). Unfortunately that no longer seems to be the case however daily replays of all races plus features are available. I thought this was common knowledge.
January 5, 2010 at 22:42 #268091All RUK races since 1/1/09 are available on the ‘Archive’ sub menu of ‘Watch Online’.
Presumably the database will continue to grow and hopefully the 1/1/09 start will be maintained
Available to web-only subscribers at £10 pm or to full subscribers at £20 pm
It’s a fine service (as is the live webcast) and the prime reason I gave up the full subs (and Sky) and went web-only last month
Don’t miss televised RUK, or ATR, at all
An armchair has been sited near the PC but due to the ‘big freeze’ hasn’t seen much use yet
