The other I like now is also Royal Lytham, what’s he doing at 33/1? The 4th highest rated in the field, only a length down on Siskin in the Grp1 phoenix Stakes. July Cup winner on the Damside, might be better over 6F. Travelled well in the Irish 2000 Guineas, but didn’t pick up over maybe too far, back at 6F he’s no 33/1 shot surely? Ran well in the Coventry LY as well and was a bit unlucky.
Royal Lytham 33/1 EW
June 17, 2020 at 23:32 #1491166I didn’t ever fancy Millisle to stay a mile, but i also wouldn’t be sure she’s going to back up her 2yo g1 win, purely because i think it might’ve been a one-off? A very consistent and decent filly, but she was let go off 16/1 (didnt have superb form at that time, granted) when Jessie was winning left, right + centre with her fillies. I’ll be taking her on again.
My worry is her trainer. I don’t know how much I trust Mrs JH
Worry as to what Frenchy? She’s a very very good trainer, one of the best.
On Lytham, it was a bad run in the 2000G, surprised he didn’t stay given his pedigree myself + the way he shaped as a 2yo? I mean, he made the running vs Siskin, was headed + stayed on again?
Isn’t Royal Crusade a fairly big price too?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!June 18, 2020 at 09:29 #1491187Possibly Jack yes, but I’ll take that risk for a Grp1 winner at 12/1 certainly.
Not saying she isn’t a good trainer at all, just not sure I know where I am with her horses, sometimes they seem red hot and others they seem to be well fancied and run poorly. That’s what I mean about trust
I’m expecting RL to be ridden differently today, think he was sacrificed for the team, but again happy to find out at 33/1.
Glenagles can produce fast colts, AOB has been talking about Southern Hills being very speedy, also out of GE. AOB talks about GE having fast-twitched muscles making him capable of producing some faster colts than you might think
June 18, 2020 at 09:47 #1491190Oh yeah most sires will produce a fast horse or two in their time. Southern Hills was out of a 6f speedster anyway. Whereas Lytham’s a little different, not only pedigree, he shapes to me like wanting further than the 6f. However, 6f at Ascot is nice + stiff so i can see the appeal on that. Hopefully he is ridden differently Friday and we find out. I actually was quite excited for him in the 1000G for him to be poor + partially sacrificed as you say. I had hoped they might ride him quiet that day.
You’d have thought Aberama Gold would be very much at the front. From a Ballydoyle point of view, it’s hard to know though. The fastest two are the two weakest stayers in Pistoletto + Southern Hills (on paper anyway), will they sacrifice them? Or ride them to try + finish their races.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!June 18, 2020 at 22:30 #1491222Kimari was my best bet of the week
But the rain will likely have scuppered that
Her run last year on soft gives hope but she must surely be better on quick ground
June 18, 2020 at 23:07 #1491236Lope Y fernandez travelling all over the guineas field at 6f – lay golden horde (may well be best cox has trained his words but stable form poor) ew shadn
June 19, 2020 at 10:06 #1491282I’m in the same boat Final Furlong, Kimari one of my biggest fancies of the week, and I’ve taken much bigger odds, but I’m worried now. Saying that though, it is a poor renewal, so I haven’t abandoned all hope.
June 19, 2020 at 11:03 #1491299Not original but I cannot get away from Pierre Lapin with the stable flying. He has the form to win and unlike some of the others there is the potential to improve further.
I did wonder about the ground but his half brother won a Group 1 on ground that was bottomless.
June 19, 2020 at 15:24 #1491346Gone for two outsiders at big ew prices Southern Hills and Pistoletto
June 19, 2020 at 15:46 #1491349I coulda swore i put my selections up here, but they aren’t here

Anyway, did royal crusade and ventura rebel. VR drifted to 50s which was a nice ew.
sorry for the aftertime, but he’s a selection in the RA comp anyway!

June 19, 2020 at 16:55 #1491358Hes a right monster to look at the winner, that was seriously good
June 19, 2020 at 20:08 #1491379Really good to see Golden Horde build on the promise he showed last season, beautiful strong horse, super performance.
