Poor old Dessie, completely messed up the finish again today of the 310
That’s two big handicaps in little over a month.

Hardly, one was mainly orange and the other mainly blue, 2 shocking errors in little over a month
February 1, 2015 at 16:31 #503754Not only that but he appeared to have renamed the race to the Pretemps Handicap Hurdle
February 1, 2015 at 19:04 #503782After reading the GC blog, I note the reference to Mirabel Topham’s 1952 commentary team – which included a lady whom I believe deputised for her husband who was ill.
Does anyone know her name and the names of the rest of that "team"? Pretty sure one was Bob Butchers (who later became the Mirror’s Newsboy) and a Mr Topham (no relation).
Just something that has always bugged me.
Sorry only just seen this post. The 1952 commentary team was
Jack Topham
J C Kirkpatrick
Archie Stock
Bob Butchers

The visor on Whatuthink was a bit of a giveaway. A case of laziness and complaceny?
February 9, 2015 at 12:27 #504792I’ve just watched the Racing replay from Leopardstown yesterday and Gerry Hanlon’s commentaries were superb. The sooner he gets the full time gig in Ireland the better.

February 9, 2015 at 15:19 #504811The best Commentators can describe a race accurately enough to give the listener an image of whats happening even when they cant actually see the race.ie Radio. The worlds worst caller is the Old Irish guy, never once does he tell you the distance between horses or whats travelling well or even jumping well, his commentary is shockingly limited.
Richard Hoiles and Simon Holt are seriously too close to split, both in a league of their own imo.I can only imagine Betfair were listening to this Old Irish Guy yesterday to allow 100’s to be offered about the winnerCarlingford Lough
,at no point should that horse have traded twice the price of his SP,4/1 in reality.
