Ever since I was a kid and watched the odd race on the telly, the horse I used to pick was the one with a colour in its name. Not sure if this was because of the first horse I remember, was a certain 3 times Grand National winner
The most profitable day I had using this system was John Smiths Cup Day in 2008 when the winners were :-1st race – Blue Spinnaker 12/1
3rd – Flying Clarets 16/1
4th – Yellowstone 10/1
6th – Amber Queen 3/1 (Unfortunately did not back
)I also had the winner of the 2nd Zomerlust and so should have had a fair few thousand more than the £400 I won that day for the 2 50p Lucky 15s I did
But this system can also work against you if there are 2 "Colours" in the race. Seem to remember backing Joshua’s Gold one day, changing my mind from Black ??? due to the Morning Line tipping this up.
Also Red River Rebel at Southwell. Backed at 100/30 because I was just in the bookies at the time. Tioga Gold romped home at 125/1. Always remember the commentator saying the horse hadn’t won for 5 years as he crossed the line
