To be fair she is the less nuclear far right option however do I believe she’ll fight the next election …no chance , the shadow and stench and farage will be too much , I give her 2 years and if thing to start getting better then the Tories will go into full panic more and end up showing farage a bit of leg ….

More Reform-lite rhetoric incoming. When you’ve got no actual policies, just fan the flames of the culture wars.

    Can’t wait.

On the subject of culture wars, does anyone listen to Jon Ronsons excellent podcast ‘Things Fell Apart’?

Another World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. Like we need another one of those.

I don’t think it is very important nowadays but at least PMQs might be a bit lively. I have a feeling she will get under Starmer’s thin skin.

“All that was left was to hire her out to Spurs.”

    😂

Made me spill my morning cuppa with laughter. Taken from the (nearly) always excellent John Crace:

Kemi Badenoch Campaigns For North Sea Drilling at Company Owned by Oil and Gas Executive Who Donated £250,000 to the Conservatives

Just in case there was any doubt as to why Badenoch continues to spout crap about North Sea oil and gas.

To be fair, good old Kemi spouts crap no matter what. She doesn’t need any financial incentive to do so.

Didn’t Thatcher sell off the North Sea oil fields? I seem to remember thinking at the time hang on we owned them and they were sold off and we got nothing.

    Don’t be silly, @moehat

As individuals, we got “choice”. And, as a nation, we got poorer.

She’s seen Trump wants Irans oil and thought ” hang on I’ll demand the oil in the North sea ” , anyone see her carcrash interview on Sunday , she’s trying to knock Labour saying that they’ll have a disaster at the local elections err you might want to look at how the Tories are polling live

Didn’t Thatcher sell off the North Sea oil fields?

The history of government involvement in North Sea Oil & Gas is complicated but essentially the Labour government set up the state-owned British National Oil Corporation (BNOC) in the mid-70s which was then part-privatised by the Conservatives in the early-80s, becoming Britoil, with the government initially retaining a hefty share. The mid-80s collapse in oil prices led to disposal of their share and Britoil was eventually acquired by BP.

Just watched the Conservative election broadcast: absolutely pitiful.

The lack of basic knowledge shown by Badenoch is stunning: has nobody explained to her that high electricity prices are not due to a lack of drilling in the North Sea, or how the gas markets work, or that Norway didn’t sell off their natural gas and oil reserves… unlike her predecessor and idol, Thatcher?

It’s entirely possible, of course, that these things have been explained to her and that she is simply too thick to understand them.

I turned the channel over as soon as that came on, thanks for confirming that my decision was correct.

It is of course a war that she supported and therefore she supported the price rises which were an inevitable consequence. Although what any of it has to do with local elections I don’t know.
