Does anyone know what’s happened to one of my favourite horses? He’s not been out this season and I got no reply from Donald McCain’s website when I enquired about a month ago. I’ve followed this lovely old chaser since backing him to win the Fixed Brush final at Haydock in April 2006.
Any information on his well being would be much appreciated.
March 24, 2011 at 21:20 #347087The next time I see Donald I’ll ask him if no-one else has news before then.
March 25, 2011 at 08:19 #347136Thanks, Ten Plus, it’ll be much appreciated.
March 28, 2011 at 19:44 #347667OK as promised I spoke to Sian McCain yesterday and Cloudy Lane is having the season off but all being well will return next season.
March 28, 2011 at 21:05 #347678That’s good news; thanks for finding out.
March 29, 2011 at 07:12 #347703Many thanks for the update, Ten Plus, and it’s good to know that Cloudy is having a well earned rest. Mind you, he’s 11 now so not sure where McCain will take him. Cheers.

One possibility would be down the Point-to-Point and hunter chase route. I’m pretty sure he’d be eligible for them in the 2011-12 amateur season, and Sian McCain of course already campaigns a number of the yard’s older animals in that sphere.
I don’t think Trevor Hemmings will mind one little bit if Cloudy Lane’s next victory is in a Fox Hunters rather than a Grand National, so long as it’s at Aintree.
