I only knew of him through his columns in the Post and the Sun but he seemed a funny enough bloke and loved racing and racing people. Shame he died but at least he had a long and varied life. Hope he didn’t suffer etc n thoughts to his family and friends.
April 17, 2009 at 18:22 #222318If I’ve interpreted what I’ve read today correctly, Stan, I don’t think he suffered much, if at all. Alastair Down infers today that Sir Clement just went like that, suddenly, whilst writing at his desk; whilst Libby Purves in the
Times
indicates she spoke to him earlier this week with nothing about that correspondence presaging his subsequent demise.

April 18, 2009 at 13:40 #222458Since it seems appropriate to the subject of TRF, an anecdote reported in my paper today.
At a lunch to launch the original racing channel, Frued was asked if he followed the horses.
"Yes, but unfortunately the horses I follow also tend to follow the horses."

Isn’t that just a typical Freudism?
It was good to see The Post reprinting some of his work in today’s paper – it certainly brightened up the flight to Ayr.
April 18, 2009 at 16:08 #222491Seconded, Paul and AP – some fine Freudisms quoted on the Morning Line this morning also.
