AOB giving it the big one with City of Troy. Listen: Never sent a colt to the Derby with as much ability as this fellow.

    Yeah right

It’s the latest “Justify is the best stallion we’ve had” (or whatever bo**ocks he spouted recently). Chuck enough darts at a board and maybe one will hit the bull. Not sure City of Troy will be the one though.

With godolphin bidding upwards of 2m on city of troy progeny its not only coolmore that think he will be a top stallion. Time will tell.

If it was anyone but Aidan it would be a simple he hasn’t trained in

It must be more than that HDLG. If it were only “not training on” – not making any physical progress from 2 to 3 – his form would’ve still seen him in 3rd or 4th. When it’s 9th beaten out of sight, it can not ONLY be that he has not trained on. Something physically amiss perhaps? Perhaps just doesn’t like being headed? Unusually for a top AOB racehorse COT has effectively made the running in all of his racecourse appearances. Disputed it on debut, led his part of the track in the Superlative, led outright in the Dewhurst and again disputed the running in the 2000 before outpaced and appeared not to want to know once headed?

I wouldn’t write City Of Troy off just yet.

I don’t buy getting upset in the stalls was a factor and most of us feel the same to me he wasn’t fit enough but time will tell.
Aidan now blames himself for Henry Longfellow’s disappointment in the French Guineas due to giving wrong riding instructions to the jockey. I wouldn’t have thought Ryan Moore would need instructions on how to ride the horse in that race.

The more I know the less I understand.

Until we get further evidence (i.e. after the Derby run) I have settled on the thought that he just had a rather big off day….all that utter nonsense….from Aidan is him just trying to protect his future stallion prospects by deflecting any blame away from it being the horse not living up to his lofty reputation (it couldn’t possible be an issue with him from Aidan’s perspective because he is obviously the 2nd coming as he has told us all).

Even if he had won the 2000g, I still have my doubts about him staying the trip but so far outside of Ambiente Friendly (proven at the trip and on a line through Illinois it means Los Angeles has something to find on him), nothing else has really thrown down a strong claim so it is now over to Ancient Wisdom tomorrow but there is no guarantee that he will stay 12F (his full brother has never won further than 10F and we all know Dubawi has yet to sire an Epsom Derby winner).

All in all, COT is still in the mix assuming you chalk Newmarket up to a bad day at the office.

Normally AOB insists that he leaves it to the jockey, especially if Moore is riding. I honestly think he’s a nice chap, which may be why he can repeat obvious nonsense and actually believe it. Luckily the rest of us don’t!

Probably gave him the instructions meant for Soumillon.
At least he had the right number cloths on them unlike Mother Earth and Snowfall that time..

This thread is what makes this forum so special. Long before the RP’s tipsters had any clue about the Derby winner of 2024, Kris was the first one to mention him with the backup of ID a few posts later.

So AOB undercooked COT and blitzed Derby , maybe undercooked AR and he wins Derby . Is this a new blueprint , be interested to see his 2025 Guineas runners who are fancied for Derby .

HCMW,I was thinking the same. Maybe the don’t care any longer about the Guineas, but only for the Derby.
