Just an oddity rather than a Festvial thread – but can anybody think of another days NH racing that doesn’t have any race of less than 2M 5F?
The only ones that might match it are the hunter chase meetings, but certainly the ones at Cheltenham and Leicester stage a 2M contest.
It does make the Cheltenham program unbalanced, especially as there are three 2M races on Friday.
March 11, 2009 at 01:07 #215087Just a thought, Alan- could this be from a time-keeping point of view, or am I giving the BHA too much credit?
March 11, 2009 at 06:28 #215196I can see Thursday being relatively quiet- the whole town is less busy this year and even some of those coming for the week may skip World Hurdle day.
Mounty will no doubt be last to leave O’Neills that night though, as he was on Monday!March 11, 2009 at 16:18 #215276I presume we’re discounting all the point-to-point meetings that don’t include a short Maiden.

The only other possible I could have thought of was the third all-hunter meeting, at Folkestone, but this too has a 2m contest. I think you might have beaten the panel here, AP!

March 12, 2009 at 00:37 #215446Dont Hereford also have a 2m Hunter Chase.
March 12, 2009 at 01:10 #215460Persian War day at Chepstow in October had no race less than 2m4f, just one furlong out…!
March 12, 2009 at 01:23 #215463Dont Hereford also have a 2m Hunter Chase.
I think they have made that one 2m 3f these days.
March 12, 2009 at 01:35 #215466Correct. In its last days the 2m hunter used to be the first race on Hereford’s April Saturday meeting after the near hour-long pause in procedings either side of the Grand National, but it has moved – along with the parent meeting – to March 26th and been extended to 2m3f.
