Have just arrived at Cheltenham – if racing goes ahead I will believe in miracles.
Still -2 and course looks solid
January 1, 2010 at 11:06 #266842………any sign of Lee Mottershead, Paul?

Colin
Yep Lee is here
January 1, 2010 at 11:19 #266848Looking at the temp/dewpoint spread (11:14am) from a nearby weather station at Bishops Cleeve, I’d say there isn’t a hope of the ground thawing going by the "solid" description Paul O has just reported.
All weather racing to the rescue again
January 1, 2010 at 11:31 #266853Unofficially word is racing is on – however some trainers and jockeys are not happy and are with the stewards now
January 1, 2010 at 11:32 #266854Unbelievably racing goes ahead
Utter disbelief here in press room
January 1, 2010 at 11:35 #266855Again looking at the temp/dewpoint trends, if those solid sections are on the racing line they’ll be running over frozen ground.
January 1, 2010 at 11:37 #266856Paul,
Do you think the whole card will take place or will punters be going home after the first?
CrizzyJanuary 1, 2010 at 11:40 #266858Maybe, they are hoping the thermometer will rise by 12:30!
Regards – Matron
January 1, 2010 at 11:43 #266859I haven’t a clue what is going on here – I certainly wouldn’t risk a horse in these conditions.
It will be interesting to see how many non-runners come through in the next hour or so.
I hope they have made the right call.
As I said in my last post there is stunned disbelief here in the Press Room.
January 1, 2010 at 11:44 #266861The decision makers would have taken all the odds on the machine for it to go ahead. Someone ought to call Barney Curly and Panorama. On a more serious note, could the bookmakers have had a say in the decision, given the disbelief ?
January 1, 2010 at 12:03 #266867Non-Runners all over the show in the first.
Four out already (Tiermore, Coeur De Fou, American Cricket and Lord Singer)
January 1, 2010 at 12:04 #266868Four have just been pulled out of the opener

Why dont they do what some football club did midweek, put bins over the track and light fires in them?
