I have a feeling there will be more non-runners once the first has been run.
January 1, 2010 at 12:50 #266880Already seven out of the second
January 1, 2010 at 12:53 #266881Paul, as always thanks for updates ,
looks like a silly decision to go ahead
cheers

January 1, 2010 at 12:54 #266882Another inspection
January 1, 2010 at 12:55 #266883This is starting to get rather farcical and suggests that the course authorities are wildly at odds with connections. It doesn’t do the sport a huge amount of good.
January 1, 2010 at 12:56 #266884Disgrace – ran one race so they don’t have to refund racegoers money, stacks of NR’s and the jockeys don’t like the look of it.

They know more than us, horse and jockey welfare is imperative and rates higher than racegoers welfare.
Tramore late off.
January 1, 2010 at 13:03 #266886Hello,
Surely there now MUST be an independant assessor to determine the going prospects the day before or early morning.
It is quite embarrassing getting thousands of people, customers, horse connections and employees to a place in the "hope" an event takes place..and possibly the paying customers get nowt back!! FARCE!!regards,
doyley
January 1, 2010 at 13:04 #266887Agree safety is paramount – but the question still is should they have raced at all?

they want to give it every chance..
i need it to go a head my phones been buzzin with a lay that is guna hava job to jump the first flight..
hes tipped down the page so i should clean up?January 1, 2010 at 13:17 #266890A silly question perhaps but, given that a lot of people will have travelled to Cheltenham expecting a few drinks and perhaps a meal, if racing had been cancelled would they still have been able to stay at the course and perhaps watched racing from other places on the screens? As all the food etc would have been prepared, could the racegoers have been given their money back but money would still have been made from the catering etc.
January 1, 2010 at 13:23 #266892There was a very telling comment from Andy Clifton on Five Live at 10:11 this morning.
"… even if racing is off the bars will be open for the customers to use."

They should open the paddocks to the public so they can go and touch the horses, like a stable tour with the bars still open etc.
January 1, 2010 at 13:31 #266896Well I just do not believe it
January 1, 2010 at 13:35 #266898Racing going ahead. Who knows best, the Clerk or the trainers who are pulling horses out?
I wonder if the bookies had a big say as well ?
